Massive congratulations to Sir Chris Hoy on winning his ******th Olympic gold medal. A fabulous achievement. And what an ambassador he is for British cycling and sport in general… Top man.
Quite incredible stuff from GB, and still a handful of days to rack up more success. They're doing the country proud! *wondering when the argument about not blindly supporting GB due to nationality will flare up*
Wow couldnt believe it. Sorry I havnt been about for the last couple of days. Ive been tring to get Tickets for the Olympics like a man obsessed!! If anybody has seen their Ticket website you will know it is shockingly **** and shows tickets that are nolonger available as available also when you finally find tickets you are in a que with other people it notifies you to wait 15 mins by which time the tickets will be long gone..... Though it wont tell you that for another 2 hours of 'Wait 15 mins' Anyway I beat the system with a little help of some tools on the internet!! got Tickets and not just any tickets. Tickets for the athletics!! and brilliant seats too next to the flame and a view onwards of the finish line!! The park is incredible too. Its well worth the money put into it!
What a fantastic Olympic games, so much in 16 days, an inspiration to the world, so many spectacular athletes all winners just for being there, Mo Farrah's winning face, a real picture, and Britain third in the medal table, so many emotional moments, the world now knows why Britain is Great. So many good and glorious things done by so many good and talented people, far beyond expectation. Well done Britain.
I was not looking forward to these games at all, never bought into the hype. But having actually watched it was incredible. Really got into it and loved every second. Sad its over. 65 medals, 29 golds, 17 silver, 19 bronze, 3rd in the medal table.
Same - well articulated. For those who watched, what was your custard pie moment, champagne moment, favourite/most surprising event/result, best commentator/presenter, etc.? The custard pie should be flung at the referee in the Azerbaijan/Japan boxing match, or possibly the female shotput gold medaller (as I believe they call it now). The champagne moment's a bit more difficult but here are some suggestions, including a considered view of what constitutes a great moment in volleyball.
Custard Pie: Locog's ticketing website. still fuming about it!! Champagne: Gemma Gibbons in the Judo. Beautiul moment of her looking up to her mother in the heavens who died of cancer
Sad to see the Olympics over, what a great spectacle it was. Proud to be Irish, and win our first gold in years. All congrats must go to London, for an amazing games and thankfully no terrorist threats.
I've never defined myself by the geographical boundaries of my birth place, but that doesn't mean I won't support a GB team I can be proud of.
