Allow Dan and Joe back on board guys. This is getting way out of hand, and will only escalate the longer things are left this way. We're all Saints fans here, and each have opinions. That's why it's a forum. Have some sense please. Plus, and probably most importantly, how are we going to cope without DTLW?!

Can I make a plea that if anyone feels they have been shouted down or personally insulted, that they report the post (use the triangle button under the post) or PM me or any of the mods, rather than argue the toss in public. I promise that the mods will take appropriate action.

Bullshit.

Well look. This isn't going very well is it.

Mods, really, just reconsider before this all goes down the pan. You've not handled this correctly. If you reconsider, I'm sure nobody will think any less.

Seriously. I understand that the concern is that, if you guys admit that a mistake was made and rescind the ban, that it'll show that you can be bowed by pressure from the mob in the future, and it's thus easier to close ranks and ride out the storm.

But, again, from experience: people would much rather have mods that they deem responsive and considerate of the opinions of the general community than ones with an air of infallibility. Keep on this path and you'll only serve to be the inerrant rulers of a very, very small kingdom.

Personally, I'm inclined to believe the tweet about Rickie's words being twisted. He's never seemed the type, and let's face it, it would hardly be the first time a public figure has had their words twisted into something completely different, would it?

That's the key part just there.

It's also a football forum, nothing more. The mods should only really intervene if someone is being obviously incredibly abusive. Who cares if you lot bow to "the mob" we're not going to demand cuts in taxes or anything like that we're going to ask for you to be reasonable in who you're banning! It just smacks of people enjoying their power too much.

thing is I saw the interview before I saw the article and I got the same impression as the article gave.

I wasn't primed to think that way either.

he might just have been clumsy with his worms.

Generally, yes.

At the same time, I think some of the reactions have been a little over the top (you know who you are).
