Well, that was a very interesting interview with Rickie to say the least. Little lump in my throat when he said about "loving the club" "I'm a Southampton fan", "I wont celebrate if I score".

However the push for a comment on the club's hierarchy drew an interesting response when he replied something along the lines of "the owner has surrounded herself by people who she thinks are good for the club, we will see..."

Clearly someone has rustled feathers behind the scenes or lack of someone...(Cortese...?)...?

Thought provoking for sure...
 
I am not suggesting any great conspiracy but clearly he or they were unhappy with someone leaving or someones arrival.

I would agree it was prob the loss of Cortese that you could attribute this to, but wondering whether it could be anything to do with MP leaving or Krueger arrival...?

ML-Stable top half team run on a sustainable business footing.

NC- Dash for CL places with other peoples money and no proper corporate oversight.

KL- ML's plan having been achieved, let's see how far we can go following his principles.

No mystery. Of course the players will always want more money spent. Just as well they are not the decision makers!

Not entirely sure that Rickie would be talking about money spent/not spent...for one thing, it happened after he left. There doesn't seem much love between the players and the Les/Ralph pairing, though, if even Rickie is hinting at it.

Or he was just annoyed Cortese left? So many people are all to ready to blame Reed and Krueger time and time again.

That quote doesn't sound like he's bemoaning the loss of Cortese, though...it suggests that he doubts whether the people who have replaced him are good for the club.

Because he was treated so well by Cortese, of he will have doubts. That doesn't mean he is right tho does it?
 
Rickie would know more than us, but he is only looking at it from the players' point of view. The board and owner have other considerations and would know more about the true situation of the club. As Kreuger said, if you want fairy tales, don't ask Les. SRL is the past...his opinion is interesting but has no affect on us.
 
It's just kind of said that people have to look to blame some one on our current board. First it was Kat is asset stripping then it was the players don't like Reed etc. It could be simply that they felt Cortese was harshly treated. But then that is only their opinion. Reed has been brilliant both getting top wack for the players that didn't want to be here and recruiting so many players. Yes we may not rate them all but they at least played very well today.

No, it doesn't mean that he's right. But he's the most level-headed of the departees, and someone who certainly didn't leave under a cloud. If he's questioning their fitness, it's not as easy to dismiss as it would be coming from the others.

The biggest concern for me isn't their player recruitment efforts, it's the fact that it appears that Les/Ralph aren't well-regarded by the players. That's a real problem in attempting to retain the assembled talent, whose view of the club and it's future are going to necessarily be informed by its two primary representatives.
