You may be right but I doubt it'll be anything out of the usual ...

... Mowbray appears infinitely more sanguine than some on social media.

I'm really confused by all the comments along the lines of "Mowbray's presser is going to be extremely awkward" etc... He'll probably just say "the player we were hoping to sign didn't get across the line in the end but we have other targets we're working on" or something like that, and move on. This stuff happens all the time in football :emoticon-0102-bigsm

That's because nothing you've said adds up.

What’s difficult to understand about saying that we don’t need more youngsters when we have already have quality kids on the bench who can’t get a game already because of other youngsters performing on the pitch? It’s hardly Swahili..

True, but his comments about having a striker through the door for a few days by the Cov presser...... clearly not the case, so you wonder where the process has broken down and what he'll make of it

You like asking questions but seem totally unfamiliar with the concept of answers ...

... your only response is more shouting and swearing.

Sorry but that's exactly the kind of wild exaggeration you won't be hearing.

A car going through an enforced 20mph zone hasn't necessarily broken down.

Do you write his narrative ? Cos that sounds about spot on

I hear what you are saying Smug, the point I'm making is that Mowbray said on Saturday

"I think by the next time we meet we'll have been working for a few days with a striker and hopefully he can help the team"

The press conference is tomorrow, so am keen to hear what he says next (on the assumption we don't get anyone in today). You assume he wouldn't have gone so public with timelines unless he'd had assurances. Given the complete radio silence from the club and the absence of the merest whiff of a rumour it's going to be interesting to get the latest update.

Yes but it doesn't mean he'd be annoyed at anyone in the club. He might know the reasons why it hasn't happened yet and know there was nothing the club could do about it.

I assume he'd much rather wait an extra week to get the player he / we wants rather than forget that player and sign somebody else just because he'd said something in a press conference / interview.

That said, you're right it will be interesting. But then its always interesting to hear from the club during the window!

The process may not necessarily have broken down....just running a bit slowly....something may happen today.

With respect, we've known we are short up front since the 1st day of this year. Granted we brought in a couple of kids for the long term, but here we are 8 months later with 1 fit striker and potentially another 5 league games until Stewart is even close to being on the bench. I appreciate and respect the model, but is there some flexibility in it to go beyond the budget for the here and now?

Not sure I said he would, and if it sounded like that was the implication I apologise. Just think it's going to be interesting to hear an update because it's been absolute radio silence in the few days - no even an online rumour from a wannabe ITK. Absolutely nowt. If nothing happens today, got to assume it's Dack up front again on Sat - whilst I appreciate the long term, strategy, we are potentially sacrificing the first 10 games of the season in the hope Stewart comes back as good as new

That's just guesswork mate.

Another guess would be we've learned that having Stewart as the main man is a mistake in a long season. People may dismiss them irrelevant kids but one has already played and might well have come on, against Rotherham, even if Stewart had been playing.

Hemir was very close to scoring and that other younger 'kid for the future' did even better.

Also 'radio silence' is what's previously been lacking at the club ...

... I don't see it as the bad thing you appear to.

The "other kid" I was referring to was Mayenda, not Jobe

How the **** do you assume that because I’ve mentioned numerous times we have too many youngsters that we can’t get on the pitch and then finally used Ba as an example that means I think Clarke should be dropped?

If I said I think Clarke should be dropped I would’ve said “Clarke should be dropped.”

You’ve took 2+2 and pulled 7 out of your arses.
You literally made a sarcastic calling of Clarke s a “golden boy”. There is no other way that was meant. Which, as I said, insinuates you think Ba, who has shown a few minor glimpses but nothing more, should replace him.

You can blame us all you want for adding it up wrong, but if you hadn’t put the wrong number up in the first place, we’d have found it much easier

He shouldn't have made the strikers comment in my mind.

I understand his view, can't win. If he says nothing we get restless and may feel a bit of a disconnect. If he's transparent, we're in it together and in the loop

From a business perspective, I want him to stay quiet. It can ruin deals, it 'creates' the image we're all pulling in different directions. We need a consistent narrative from the club

I just assumed you were pissed last night but clearly not. You didn’t answer anything, you just went on a rant quoting my original comment in bold and assuming I’d asked for Clarke to be dropped without me actually saying Clarke should be dropped - which is absolutely ridiculous he’s one of if not the best winger in the league.

Clarke was quality last season so he’s the golden boy, the fact you’ve had a meltdown because I mentioned that kind of proves the point. He’s exempt from criticism from large sections of our fans. He was garbage against Ipswich and not a single person pointed the finger at him, it was Hemir because he’s the east target.

He will have a bad spell eventually as all footballers do; BUT he’s more than proved that he deserves to stay in the team and rectify his form, which is fine but where does that leave the likes of Ba? He’s not just meant to be a backup winger who comes in when Clarke has a knock we signed him because he’s meant to have bags of talent and we can’t even give him a start. What he shows in training doesn’t really count for much and won’t warrant a start, Grealish looked head and shoulders above everyone in the England camp during the winter World Cup and barely got a look in.

Nobody knows how good he is or if he’s better than what we have because he’s never been given a chance. Remember how many folk were calling Diallo ****e after a few games of coming off the bench and they all sharp changed their tune on that once he’d been given a run of games.

That’s the point I’m trying to make - Not “let’s drop our best players to see what else we have because they might be better.”

Let’s see what today brings. I’m sure @Wheatsheaf said Wednesday could be a goer, things tend to drag on so might not be exact but there’s obviously something possible in the next couple of days. If it’s a striker we can have an argument about them instead of press conferences
Fingers crossed.
