Talking to the landlord in my local tonight. He is a bit of a Rugby man, but has houses he rents out. One of those is currently occupied by a striker playing for a good conference side. Not at all. Ten Hag doesnt strike me as a players best mate type of coach. You dont need to be mates though to be a footballer. Pep said Xhaka does the best for his teammates and is special. That trait has always stood out. A proper team man above all. He wont sulk around the place imo. If I thought he was that type I wouldnt want him here.
I feel burnt by the Lauriente “here we go” so will wait for the scarf pic. Ten Haag’s comments seem slightly bizarre. It could be a clever move to reduce the pressure on him if things don’t go well. At least he’s on record saying he’s opposed to this deal. Still, it creates the appearance of a wedge between him and the sporting director.
I reckon if Xhaka wants the move it happens. He’s the captain, he’s well respected at the club. You’d like to think that’s a two way street. Delivered them an unbeaten league title and I’m sure they won a domestic cup that season too. And Ornstein normally waits until it’s concrete.
