Aye, like a Championship Plus. I think this is a great division even with the parachute payments skewing things.

I like the Championship. There's not enough difference between the top and bottom to make it predictable, most teams are prepping for the prem so you don't get the standard kick the opposition as much as possible and timewaste tactics from league one.

Games are just as watchable as the prem and usually less cagey. Personally watching ultra rich teams battle it out doesn't really appeal to me.

I agree with everything you’ve said about the championship, it’s a cracking league.

Personally though on the PL and rich teams - I love watching the bigger games. I’m really looking forward to Chelsea v Man City on Sunday. Love watching top players. The likes of De Bruyne and Palmer (certainly last season) are a joy to watch.

Couldn't agree more. I love the championship. Proper footy but loads of quality

They wouldn’t be signing new deals if it wasn’t there mate but some people like to ignore that and pretend it’s all hell when it isn’t anywhere near that

Don't think he's been banned mate.

Tees is a volatile lad at the best of times and has had a long history of personal problems with his dad, ex-partner, ex-girlfriend, work, kids, etc. All of this he's posted himself so I'm not betraying a confidence. He's a very passionate and caring lad who loves Sunderland and gets frustrated, as we all do. He's like a dog with the last bone on earth, at times, so gets overly defensive and sometimes aggressive. He lives among Smogs so has become very defensive indeed tbh.

He'll take time to calm down, apologise and post again until he blows up again ...

... he's a bit like a Buckeroo, you never know when he'll kick off <laugh>

Don’t know tees personally but think his hearts in the right place, passionate lad who says what he thinks, nout wrong with that, he’s a good addition to this board

edit, didn’t mean to quote cam too, I’m just **** with tech and not sure how I’ve done it

Is it? I certainly don’t see it. Most supporters I know who attend games week in, week out aren’t expecting much this season.
Maybe I am opposite of most supporters as I expect us to be challenging near the top of the league. I get that you have reservations and you are entitled to that opinion, my outlook however is a bit more optimistic whereas yours seems a little more morose.
I truly do not think that we will really see what RLB and the team are all about until around 10 games into the season so TBF I am happy enough to stay optimistic and believe that if we can get through those 10 games with about 20 points I will be happy enough as I think we will get stronger as the season develops and confidence kicks in.

Ditto, personally as it stands I’ll expect a run of wins, a run of losses and some excitement at points in the season, maybe 10th to 15th. One or two key injuries, and we’ve already had Ballard, and move that to never really in danger but too close for comfort, 14th to 18th, get a striker or two who can get double figures and 6th to 12th.

Think spurs have just signed that lad from Burnley, no idea if he's a forward or not, plus Solanke so might free Lankshear up. No idea if he's good or not.

That kid from Ipswich might be a shout, but is he actually that experienced? Just asking, I have no idea. I know they signed him from lower down but don't know how many games he'd played.
Hes one of those that sort of came out of nowhere! I've just been reading up, he's played about 80 senior games. His last season at Wimbledon in the league he got 13 in 23, which is good I'd say. Obviously, hard to transform that into championship distribution, but he was quite clearly well rated given the interest.

What gets me with him, is his size and his all round play seems decent. My main issue with signing another teenager is sometimes there body's haven't adjusted, Burstow last season looked a year behind at least. Al Hamadi is fully developed physically at 22, I think he fits the bill.

Mind if we loaned him, I'd like a permanent clause in there for our own benefit.

Don’t know the man but fairly obvious he’s been on a downward trajectory mental health wise the past couple of weeks. That doesn’t excuse the personal abuse but it is mitigation. If anyone on here knows him personally would be good to check in with him and nice to know he’s okay. I don’t agree with lots of his views on this or other threads but he’s clearly struggling.

I read on an SAFC fans page on Facebook that in 2 weeks it will be the 4th window without signing a championship ready striker. really hope this gets sorted, it feels like our season depends on this. Could be the difference between a really good season and a rank average one.

You can't read a page on Mumsnet without seeing someone post that <laugh>

Presumably that means the player in question has scored a considerable amount of goals at this level, let's say 20?

Rules out Mendy and a load of other targets people are hoping for.

Is Miles Leaburn fully fit again? He looked like a very promising player not unlike Al Hamadi. Missed most of last season so a bit risky but certainly has potential.
He was mentioned at a talk in before, and a certain person answering the questions said that HE didn’t like him. Says it all really how much say he’s got. For what it’s worth I agree with you, he looked like a quality player with loads of potential.

Doesn't need to be someone who we’re expecting to score a goal a game but just be ready all round for the physicality for me. Weimann scored 20+ goals a few seasons ago and everyone was turning their nose up at him when he was mentioned in the long list of striker transfers this window.

Seen it last season and already again Cardiff, the young lads spend more time on the ground whinging and asking for free kicks than putting themselves about. One of Stewart’s biggest assets was receiving the ball with his back to goal, holding it and getting it out to the wings.

How many of the strikers clubs have signed have been guaranteed ‘championship ready’ like?

How many players have swapped Champ clubs or signed for Champ clubs having already scored 15-20 in the Champ consistently?

There’s folk saying how great the lad Blackburn have signed look after 2 games whilst saying Mendy is a gamble. Makes nee sense. They all a gamble.

20 points from the first 10 games, thats promotion form and then we will get stronger, optimism isnt missing in your house.

Based on what, though? We don’t have a decent centre forward at the club.
