Doesn't need to be someone who we’re expecting to score a goal a game but just be ready all round for the physicality for me. Weimann scored 20+ goals a few seasons ago and everyone was turning their nose up at him when he was mentioned in the long list of striker transfers this window.

Seen it last season and already again Cardiff, the young lads spend more time on the ground whinging and asking for free kicks than putting themselves about. One of Stewart’s biggest assets was receiving the ball with his back to goal, holding it and getting it out to the wings.

Weimann isn't a striker. He plays off the 9 or even wide right.

How many of the strikers clubs have signed have been guaranteed ‘championship ready’ like?

How many players have swapped Champ clubs or signed for Champ clubs having already scored 15-20 in the Champ consistently?

There’s folk saying how great the lad Blackburn have signed look after 2 games whilst saying Mendy is a gamble. Makes nee sense. They all a gamble.
I think there is a view by some that after just short of 4 windows we would someone in place.. even if it is a risk. As someone said, he doesn’t have to be prolific goal scorer.. just lead the line.. we have enough quality to play off a central striker

This ‘4 windows’ thing baffles me mind.

Was it 4 windows ago we sold Stewart? Nope.

It’s people laying on to try and make a big deal of it. Don’t get me wrong it’s messy we haven’t sorted but let’s not double timelines to have a pop.

He scored 3 goals last season and 6 the season before, he's also 33. I'd judge him on that.

But the conversation was around finding someone who’s “championship proven” and a 20 goal striker.. there’s a 20 goal striker who’s not good enough. So what’s the criteria? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I asked what the criteria was, I didn't set the criteria, the statement was made by someone else. Re-read the thread.

I have no problem with clarke leaving if the fee is significant, big player for us but should then allow us to go up a gear in turn in the market.

You can argue that at this point in the window, it's not great timing.

That's the issue. Leaving with a couple of days in the window left would be a hammer blow.
Surely they’ve been successive planning and that would include Clarke or other players leaving and signing better with the money recouped, whether he’s available and would come I’d go after Abdullah Sima from Brighton but not sure if he’s going back to Rangers!

I get annoyed when people speak on a subject and are accused of “ having a pop” simply isn’t the case..
the 4 windows ( I assume) is mentioned from when Stewart was injured to the time we sold him.. that would be around 4 windows without a recognized striker.
I don’t tend to spend my time having random digs at the club.. but this striker situation has dragged on way too long. As I said it could be the difference between a decent/good season and an average or poor one.. for me it’s that important
