Now Bordeaux are Donald Ducked and Vipotnik is available we’ve put Mendy on hold…

Sounds great in theory, but I hope it's not true. There's every chance we lose both players.

All the Bordeaux players will have numerous offers on the table over the next couple of weeks, Vipotnik isn't going to jump at the first offer on the table.

If we've delayed the Mendy deal, it needs to be for a deal that is already in progress where we know the player has interest and the club are willing to sell.

This was my thought on it. No idea who either of them are to be fair so no idea who the best option is. Just going off what was posted on he when Bordeaux released everyone.

For years and years we have been taken to the cleaners by other clubs both for transfers in and transfers out , we are merely taking the right stance in taking our time before paying over the odds for players such as Mendy when there could be better options for the same money Caen are wanting us to pay . When it comes to players out the club in a lot of cases were sometimes glad to get rid just to save wages on substandard players due to the finances of the club , we now are in a much better place with a team of a much better calibre and we quite rightly can demand top dollar prices if we wanted to sell . Strikers are expensive to buy so we may have to sell a player to fund the purchase but we have to trust KLD and Speakman to make the right decisions to progress the team .

Absolutely we are in a better place and good work has been done. Fully agree.

This has to change this time around. It's simply essential for us to progress as a club and head back to the premier.

Because we haven't sold anyone. Nobody, not even the parachute payment clubs, is spending decent money without receiving any first.

The only clubs spending money are the ones who have received big transfer fees over the last 3 windows or so.

Our lack of selling players is holding us back.

Not going on like a whopper at all. The club should be able to deliver on an experienced striker this window. They have had 2 years to do it. It would be IMO unacceptable and detrimental to our promotion chances if they don't.

It's a fine balance. We definitely need to make the move and it sounds like we are. On the same hand, we can't just pounce because a target is available if he falls out of the budget. We can't allow ourselves to lose discipline. We could lose a target, hopefully not though

Until we do that we have to shop in the unproven market because we don't have the money to get these better talents everyone wants.

Hemir simply can’t be relied upon. We’re desperate for a proper centre forward to lead the line. Without one it’ll be another long, hard season. Clear as day to see.

I agree the selling aspect is needed. That said. I do think we have spent some canny money on those players mentioned previous and they look like they are not at the level needed.

If we choose to delay,there must be a good reason. If a more favourable option becomes available,we would be daft not to look at it. However, I do agree that if we delay,and then decide to go back to our first option,who then proves to be unavailable, that's bad management rather than skulduggery,and,if it means we don't sign a more than capable striker,is negligent. Sometimes the bird in the hand......time will tell.
Skulduggery,in this sense,would only occur if we've promised a player a deal and then gone back on our word,and there's no evidence of that.

Skulduggery was a strong word to use. Of course it's not criminal dealings.

Just strange to get we have players over and could have signed and then tell them there is a delay. That's not normal practice. The player will feel that it's a bit **** to be fair.

As long as they get a striker sorted.

If that's what actually happened, it could be a dozen different things that are perfectly normal practice.

As people have said, if you're making accusations about the club you should choose your words well.

However, given Ugbo has been probably available all summer, the Vipotnik thing makes a great deal of sense. However we do have interest in IU.

On Embo, weird one really. You'd think he knows what's in store for him? I think Sunderland are what's keeping him going through all these awful injuries, so maybe he's adamant he doesn't wanna be elsewhere?

Anyway, another one that I reckon will be off is our Great Pretender at rb.

True. It is what it is though. It's not normal practice and would be strange for the player. Hence the term skulduggery. It's rather underhand. I think Fell defined the term, in which, I am very well aware of what it means. People then extended it too criminal dealings FFS

Just hope we are not being too clever and get left with egg on our face.

Hume? Think Villa have been one of the clubs supposedly monitoring him and press reports of them being prepared to let Cash move on.

Lots of ifs and buts, but I could see us being prepared to sell Hume

It seems like decent money but when you put them up against other championship signings its just the going rate for unproven players. Bristol City have spent around 3.5m on Fally Mayulu who scored 6 goals in the Austrian league last season, and around 2.5m on Sinclair Armstrong who scored 3 times last season. I think if we were to target a player with a proven record at this level or a league of the same standard we'll be looking in the 5-8m range. Unrealistic.

Nahh he’s right there’s no excuse for us not signing a proper CF this summer like. May aswell bend over for speakman at that point
