Sounds like we don't want to risk Ballard and Alese has a long-term injury
 
I love Luke O’Nien and think he’s considerably underrated by many. But there’s no way he starts ahead of Mepham.

Perhaps O’Nien now becomes the utility option on the bench we all thought he eventually would? And perhaps this was the plan all along when he wasn’t given the team captain role.

I'm probably most concerned about outgoings. A big squad is hard to manage and keep happy and it will do the development of a lot of our players throughout the age groups no good if we're left with too many here fighting for limited minutes (in the first team, the u21s and the u18s (as there is a knock on effect))

Yeah agreed. Got to get some good loans for players. Other than striker I'm probably more invested in getting some productive outgoings than I am with incomings.

Sounds a bit short-termist to bring in a season long loan because Ballard needs an extra week.
It'll be a good addition and flesh out the defence. Assume there will be some guarantees on playing time so interested to see who drops out...

incredibly harsh on O’Nien and Alese who have three consecutive clean sheets and have both been superb this season. But this is what we need if we are to be promoted.

I won’t have anybody say “no ambition” now. The club are very clearly going for it.
 
Mepham is a great signing! Assuming that’ll be the defence settled. Fullback cover will come from O’Nien and Hjelde/Alese which is easier to do with Mepham partnering Ballard!
