Of course you can.

We signed Baxter, Longman, and Bernard with the idea that they could be with us for the long term. If we could've spent, I'm pretty certain we'd have gone for them permanently last summer.

We went for Forss as a rushed signing as we'd missed out on a tonne of targets. I hadn't seen Forss play much but just from the type of player he is and the type of forward we used, it's not rocket science to say it wouldn't work out. You don't need to use hindsight to say that somebody with zero physical presence won't make a good target man. We'll have known that too but we needed a striker, it was late in the window and he was probably the best available.

None of those were in the last 4 years. The fact you're having to go back that shows they don't really work. They're seen as short term options which I'm saying I want us to get away from.

Permanent signings have a much higher success rate.

Scott's a daft example too, he was a young kid doing okay in Scotland, there's no way we could've taken him on loan. He was another rushed signing late in the window, which is certainly not what I'm suggesting we do.

None of those are in the last four years because I gave up after looking through those and seeing good loan signings in each year. <laugh>

Wilks worked out ok as a loan? Kane when fit was good from Liverpool but his injuries let him down, Bowler had promise and we've seen him come on now at Blackpool..

Slater was a loan. Adelakun first half then Whyte second half were brilliant in League One. Then Longman and Baxter last season. It's really not that hard to find examples at all.

Permanent signings do not have a much higher success rate, that's a daft sweeping generalisation.

Not a daft example but you hate loans, seems there's no changing you.

You just hope that deadweight doesn't block the path. I don't really see why Cannon's still being used. I'd happily see Coyle, Elder, Cannon, Wilks, Scott, Docherty, and T Smith leave the club tomorrow. I don't think they offer anything and I don't think there's any chance any of them have a medium/long term future with us.

The Fenerbahce game really emphasised our lack of depth and I've been in two minds about completely gutting the squad this summer but I would now. Promotion isn't realistic so I'd like to see us shift out all the deadwood and I'd be happy bringing players in that might be a year or two away from playing regularly for us. We're in a fortunate position and we don't really need to spend much of the KLP money so I would invest in youngsters

I think this season is about trying to develop as many assets as possible to have a real push in 12 months and get the majority of the squad in place

Promotion isn't realistic?, might be an idea to look at the depth of the squad and there is still more quality to come , upstairs i think they believe promotion this season is what they want even though they say 2 years or so they want it this season.

Docherty won't be going anywhere i think he is a workhorse and he will definitely improve with what is around him.

I said to fill the spots with young players on permanents, not experienced pros with big signing on fees.

We'll be bringing in double figures of new players anyway, so what's the difference between that and 15 which should get the rebuild sorted. It's not like we're only signing 4 and I'm suggesting bringing in 15. There's only a small difference as it's already a big upheaval.

Forss is exactly the reason you should avoid the loan system. He'll have cost a 6 figure loan fee as he came with a decent pedigree, and he recently signed a new long term deal at Brentford so with their promotion too, he's going to be on somewhere close to £10k, which we'll have had to pay as there was competition.

He was utter cack, but he'll have cost us significantly more than keeping Magennis, which is what we should have done and would have been the better option. I said at the time, the Magennis one was a mistake.

I'd have bought Bernard too yes, there was enough in him to show that with some work he could be a decent CB.

Walsh was another pointless waste of money that was just a rushed signing and another reason why you should avoid the loan market
Forss was probably loaned to us to give Brentford an insiders view of KLP's pedigree, how he trains, how he mixes etc etc and to get inside KLP's head how good a move to London and Brentford would be for him. As a player I saw nothing in Forss that we didn't already have in abundance.

My new favourite football conspiracy. Forss was loaned to us to do reconnaissance on KLP. I like it.

Unless he’s a daft lad, a 6-year Premier League contract should set him for life.
With an offer like that on the table it was impossible to keep KLP here. Seems everybody is happy ? Acun has virtually got a Championship club for nothing, previous owners pocket a nice little windfall, KLP set up for life and Brentford think they've signed a future England international. Who ever KLP's agent is will also be smug today because he was hawking KLP around clubs and seemed to have a vested interest in pushing him in Brentford's direction over a year ago, and we wouldn't have got £16m for him if Ehab had of took the bait then.

Forssure, it is clear now. Such forssight by Brentford. Forss reenforssing what a forss Brentford will be for the forsseable future. KLP had it forssed into his gullible mind, forssing Acun's hand, and ultimately forssaking the mighty Tigers.

They won’t be there that long and if relegated his wage will no doubt be cut… be so funny to pass them as they come down… I told you so daft lad

regardless of Brentford’s top flight status, KLP’s will not change beyond this season. He’ll as likely have a relegation release clause as he would have a pay cut clause.

I’m just gonna go ahead and say it.

We’ve had Brentford’s pants down.

Keane Lewis Potter is not a £20m player.
He’s not a £16m player. To be honest, I would have snapped their hand off at £7m!
He goes missing.
When he’s good he’s very good, but that is nowhere near as often as some of you are portraying.
He’s not a patch on Bowen.
He doesn’t have Bowen’s work-rate.

He has simply been a slightly sparkly stone in a pile of ****. The bar was not set that high.

That being said, he’s got his move, he’s set up for life (providing he doesn’t have a brainfart). Good luck to the lad.

There we go.

I feel better now.
Don't agree about his work ethic, he worked as hard as anyone in the team when he played wing back.
I think he did his fair share of tracking back and closing down. Good luck to him. I do agree that we got the better end of the deal tho.

Baxter
McLoughlin Fig Greaves
RWB Seri CDM Tufan Fleming
Oscar Tetteh

I don't think that would be a bad line up either, similar to how we played under Bruce. Not sure what it means for Allahyar...

And don't forget Sinik he has not come to sit on the bench.

Any info on who the CDM is, if we are in for one?
Ndayishimiye linked again the other day and Peretz too. Definitely need some size in that midfield. Ndayishimiye also covers centre back so would be a welcome addition to me, Peretz looks to be a very well rounded midfielder who does the dirty side very well too. Them 2 plus a versatile forward and potentially a right sided full back/wing back would be what I’d be hoping for.

Obviously missed the bit where Acun said he wouldn't force anyone who wanted to leave to stay also. But I suspect tigerboy is being selective to satisfy his own motives
So at best it has been handled badly then because everyone knew he wanted away the minute the big clubs came knocking so why not take the higher offers?

If you're right he has sat and watched the price come down before realising KLP didn't want to stay. Seems to me Tiger Boy is right to be a bit cautious, we have seen very little happen yet, just a lot of promises and a very strange and jumbled way of announcing important things such as signings and kit. It wasn't long ago that some were going mad because he had moved them from E2 and E3.

For the record I think he will turn out to be a decent owner but not sure it is that ridiculous for people to be slightly concerned and it is unfair to question their loyalty. I fully appreciate some people would let Acun have a go on their wife because they are so in love with him but some want to see his promises become reality.

Oscar looks a real coup and Tetteh can cover left side if he isn't through the middle.

I know they played 343 against Fener but we do t seem to be recruiting that way. Surely we wouldn't go into a season dependent on wingbacks with only 1 one fit senior on the right in that position in the travelling squad?

That's the curious one for me.
Looked much more like 3 5 1 which for long periods became 5 5 0!!
