Dunno, maybe he's being shop-windowed. Maybe there's no issue and he'll be a squad player. I didn't think KLP would start then be on a plane by 7am the next morning, so you read what you will.
Shop window or not, if an employee has slated his employer drunkenly in a pub, you don't start him in that sort of game. As PLT said, there's a desperation to slate Elder over something that very likely isn't even true, but at the same time people are defending Tufan and Sinik's playing ability because we haven't seen them in a City shirt yet. Why is Elder not afforded the same benefit of the doubt over a rumour someone started on Twitter?
I hope so. Covil was just so impressive, to come into the club as a trialist and then make the squad and then get 30 mins shows how impressed we must be. If he carries on, he'll be tied down to a long term deal in the next few months
I've no idea whether the Brewdog stuff is real but a lot of what he said turned out to be true. Him being binned this summer should have everything to do with his ability as a player though and not that incident.
KLP has already been replaced, we need a link between the front and the back now. It was supposed to be Adama but that’s gone to pot and that position needs to be filled. Estupinan, Tetteh, Longman and Allahyar as opposed to KLP who was effectively alone most games in the final third.
His early involvement was brilliant, pressed well nicked the ball back a few times. That game against Bradford early doors could be really good for us to see who’s next in line from the academy.
I have no idea if it's true or not, but I suspect there is some truth as much has come to pass. Whether or not he has offended the club or terms of his contract is probably doubtful, if as you rightly point out he was a starter in the most high profile pre-season game since Lokeren. I have no issue with Elder other than he's bang average. Its no bad thing but see Fleming as the future. Perhaps there'll be more signings than currently in the press. Who knows?
A lot turned out to be true? What, Smallwood leaving and Honeyman turning down a contract? Don't think he was pushing out the boat too far on those calls.
No I don't think they were particularly difficult calls and I'm not saying that. To be honest, I don't really care and come the start of September I reckon Elder will have gone elsewhere
You just hope that deadweight doesn't block the path. I don't really see why Cannon's still being used. I'd happily see Coyle, Elder, Cannon, Wilks, Scott, Docherty, and T Smith leave the club tomorrow. I don't think they offer anything and I don't think there's any chance any of them have a medium/long term future with us. The Fenerbahce game really emphasised our lack of depth and I've been in two minds about completely gutting the squad this summer but I would now. Promotion isn't realistic so I'd like to see us shift out all the deadwood and I'd be happy bringing players in that might be a year or two away from playing regularly for us. We're in a fortunate position and we don't really need to spend much of the KLP money so I would invest in youngsters I think this season is about trying to develop as many assets as possible to have a real push in 12 months and get the majority of the squad in place
Scott's 21, Wilks is 23, are we writing off any potential for development from them in favour of Turkish players just because they're snazzy and new? Scott seemed to have something click in his attitude late last season, are we not giving him any chance to continue on that improvement?
According to Baz we've already been spending the KLP money. Makes me wonder what happened to that big pot of money we were going to spend on a striker which seems to have vanished. 16m for KLP covers the Ally, Tufan and Sinik fees with a bit left over for wages..
Thankfully our reputation is growing and these loans to clubs like Clee Town and Pickering will likely stop and we’ll see more teams trusting us at National league and above fast tracking their progress. Jev Mills, Snelgrove, Jarvis, Green, Leake, Nixon off the top of my head all have great chances of establishing themselves here it’s just whether or not they’ll be given sufficient chances to do so. Hopefully see them all in NL/LG2 this season at some point.
It'd be more like 15 and I don't see why not. We won't get immediate success, but if that's not the aim, there's nothing wrong with doing it
I guess it effectively means we don’t have to incur debt to pay these fees as the £16m is up front (apparently) so it’s makes sense that we already are. Acun’s excitable speeches do bite him in the arse
We've been spending a lot more money besides the KLP money. And spending wasn't dependent on KLP going.
