It's getting harder not to be getting really concerned! Listening to the podcast didn't do anything to dispel concerns either. Saying no signings expected for start of pre-season training and might be another couple of weeks before a 1st signing is made.

Greaves is likely gone. The noise is starting to build around Philogene, meaning the chances of him going seem to be increasing. So it's gone from one or the other to likely both ... and also, unexpectedly, Tufan. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to see Seri go. Neither would I be surprised if Omur is having doubts; it would surely only be natural.

James Smailes commented about the infamous training camp photo from a few seasons ago, but saying we are nowhere near that situation. I 100% disagree!!!

We were in a right mess back then for sure. A training camp approaching a season in the PL without even enough senior players to field a full XI. Albeit that wasn't really true, as we had more senior players that just happened to be injured when the photo was taken!.There was really quality with the players we still had then, and across keepers, defence, midfield and attack. We had a real foundation of quality & experience that could have been built around (McGregor, Jakupovic, Dawson, Maguire, Robertson, Snodgrass, Huddz, Clucas, Diamonde, Myler, Livermore, Davies, Elmo) . Plus we had an experienced back room too.

I would say we are, at this stage at least, in a FAR worse situation! If as now expected, Greaves and Philogene go, we are so short of quality and senior numbers. On the plus side, we will hopefully have money to spend, albeit it might not be seen until well into, or even at the end of the window. The task ahead in these coming weeks is absolutely massive.

I'd hope and expect that when Walter arrives next week, that he, Tan, Acun start giving updates that reassure the fans before panic really does set in. I'm sure they will ... although it will still remain an absolutely massive task getting the squad ready for this coming season.

The season ended almost 2 month ago
Granted the transfer window didnt open straight away

But thats 2 months of potential planning, why are there no signings even close

Pre season will be empty

And I think saying ‘we need the right players, not just signing them early’ isn’t really reassuring when the season starts in about 6 weeks and pre-season training starts next Monday.

It takes a while for new players to settle. Getting them in as earliest as possible and having a full pre-season is really important.

The one pod that needed Baz to be there to probably PR spin away some of the worries and he wasn’t. That Smales did nothing but fan the flames of worries in my opinion

I very much doubt Barcelona are looking at Philogene.
Acun put everything into us going up last season January shows that.
Didn’t realise to what extent now I am starting too.

Any other teams out there signing lots or are they already sorted with a good squad ? - if so , they would be in the prem having gone up last season - maybe we are trying to get a good number of players requiring permits , and have premiership loans set up but have to wait til late in the window as the owner and Tan said ? Maybe .

If this rebuild is dependent on loans late in the window, we’ve learned **** all from our mistakes.

Coventry have signed 4 permanent decent signings and are looking at Callum Doyle with a loan to buy. Granted they’re a bit flush with cash.

Boro already on the war path as well.

Yet we get a nugget of info we are 2 weeks away from a signing potentially. If we rely on late loans in the window I’m sorry it stinks. For all we do well off the pitch our recruitment strategy largely stinks

I think the focus really does have to be towards getting the right players regardless of how slow that might be and any expectations for the upcoming season should be tempered as it will be a big ask to build so quickly. I'd like to see us moving towards getting a stable core to move forward and using loans to pad out the squad with the token winger that has bags of potential thrown in(probably Rak-Sakyi).

That's unfair. He also brought up Leeds at every opportunity, sounding like he has endless admiration for them, just as David Prutton does when he's on.

I think Tim is managing expectations. LR used to say he wanted his players in early but then it would turn out to be easier said than done. TW must know he has no chance so he's just saying the best thing in that situation.

As I said at the time, if we wanted to be building our squad in good time, we shouldn't have spent the first few weeks of the summer looking for a new manager.

Agreed. Coventry and Boro already had a much more solid base to begin with and they’ve already made a few signings to strengthen. We have one of the lightest squads in the league and are weeks away from making a single signing apparently. It’s just not acceptable.

It’s alright though, the Botanic lot will get their third free holiday and **** themselves silly about how much of a well-run family club we are lmao.
