one way to look at it was that the transfer record involving a British club at the time we signed them was £115,000. It's now reckoned to be £105,000,000 (Coutinho). Applying the same ratio now as then we'd be paying about £36.5M each for Waggy, Houghton and Butler. This does show both the ambition we had in the mid-60s and the ever growing gap between the richest clubs and the rest.

It must also show the team never achieved its potential? Flat track bullies?

Yes, the world record was £250,000 at the time. So it would still equate to buying 3 players for over £30 million each whilst a third division club. If only, eh?

Not enough midfielders and full backs. We weren't flat track bullies in Div 3. Wouldn't mind replicating some of the results that season, the league position, the Cup run...Or the crowds, 8 of which wouldn't fit in the KCOM and averaged 22,000.

Well that’s exactly what we were isnt it if we spent all that money and I doubt the team in second Spent anywhere near that

Another way of looking at it is that it shows how ****ing ridiculous inflation in player prices has been compared to normal inflation

Someone else will be able to do the sums, but I can confirm the answer is 'stupidly ****ing ridiculous'

Spent all that money on three forwards and signed a goal keeper on a free transfer from Southend who was on the verge of emigrating to Australia and who had wrote to virtually every club in the FL asking for a trial, without success.

Breaking News - Febbos return to the UK is confirmed

It is understood that Febbos has agreed a return to England after spending the last 4 years in his homeland.
Febbos has been on a free transfer since his release back in April and has been said to be desperate to get back into it.
He joined Stoke back in 2011 and is now confirmed to be re-joining the city after 7 years abscence. He confirmed the transfer with a somewhat controversial comment.

- Stoke is hardly the most beautiful place on earth, but at least I hope to see more of Hull City during my time there.

5 goals in 17 in the worst side in the league would argue otherwise.

Average that out over a season and he's hitting 12/13. For a 21 year old winger that's very good.

Never understood people that moaned at Wilks last season, from Jan onwards he was our most important player and for the first month he wasn't even fit
