Pretty sure we won't lose Lallana to Chelsea. Going there as an attacking player has got to be seen as a step backwards due to the sheer amount of players they have for the '3 creative' spots.

In terms of football enjoyment, Adam has got it made at Saints. He's the skipper, so he has influence, he plays every game, he's local and loves his life here, he's a lifelong fan [all that Everton crap], and grew up on the terraces of The Dell, so he wants to do well with the club, plus he's on the point of extending his deal to keep him at Saints forever. Is he going to give all that pleasure up for a few extra quid..? I don't think so.

I actually think he wants to emulate MLT. Rickie calls him Mr Southampton, and he is.

If Adam left I would be utterly astonished.

Well, that was out of Matty's control. There has been a change of attitude since, along with the change in manager. Nowadays, players with real skill and creativity are considered important.

Absolutely, and praise be for that. Still a crying shame what happened with him in an international sense.

I know. I can still get angry about it after all these years, and I'm the calm sort. The powers that be from that time ought to pay some sort of penance for their utter stupidity. You can ask ex-players from that era and most of them are still astonished he never became a regular in an England shirt.

Apologies if posted but haven't found anything so....Saints to make an offer for Oscar Cardozo according to the Sun. Yes please.

Nice, another good FIFA/FM player.

Seriously though, I'm not sure. He's old (will be 31 by the start of next season), and although he's a very good goal scorer in Portugal, it's just Portugal. Being a good scorer (and not much else) there isn't a sign of Premier League success, is it, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel?

True. But Cardozo has an absolute rocket of a shot. And talking of Portugal, didn't Man United sign a teenager called Cristiano Ronaldo from there? Now I know Cardozo is 30, and Ronaldo was young and a massive talent, and obviously Ronaldo is on another planet to Cardozo these days, but my point is there are players from Portugal who will perform in the PL. And Cardozo is better than Van Wolfswinkel.

He is extremely slow.

Not saying all players in Portugal are bad, of course - Ronaldo was very far from just a goalscorer, though. From what I've seen of Cardozo, he doesn't offer a whole lot more than a goal threat, and RvN has shown that goalscoring ability doesn't necessarily transfer from Portugal. I'd rather go for someone younger with a more rounded game.

I love how reliable sources can never be explicity named for some reason.
