But neither dismiss the idea that Suarez is angling for a move, which was why you posted the links in the first place.
Whether or not it happens remains to be seen and as Arsenal are the only club who are in for him, if he does go then Arsenal seem like his likely destination. I know you don't want him to go, but ultimately if it comes down to the last day of the window are Liverpool really going to turn down 4Om for a player who simply doesn't want to be there ? It might sound like a good idea to let him rot on the bench out of principal, but at the end of the day, you can use that cash to rebuild and I think that's what the owner and manager will opt for.
If we sold him that late on, we will struggle to find replacements in such a short space of time unless we panic buy and throw money - i.e. Carroll.
We were probably expecting Real to put in a bid this summer but it hasn't come.
As much as the club have said they don't want to sell to a rival, money talks and we are waiting for a bid of £55m. If Arsenal bid this, then I'm confident we would sell. Selling to a rival for £40m which is massively short of our valuation is not good business. And as we have seen from Suarez during pre-season, he may be unhappy but he still puts in a shift and I expect him to do so over the course of the season should he stay.
