Me as well. That said, when I’m using public transport the liberal use of “****” makes me cringe. I’ve challenged enough people about it as well. There is still a time and a place. Not “So I ****ing went to the ****ing shop and the assistant behind the ****ing counter....”

For me personally I was brought up being told you don't use bad language in front of ladies or children. To this day I don't think my mam has heard me swear ( that is a mark of respect ) my Dad swore like a trooper and I can swear with the best of them but I still try and respect how I was brought up. So I don't think it shows any difference to intelligence but in this world of political correctness and equality I believe that maybe we need to teach our kids about manners and gentlemanly conduct. I know that women swear as much if not more than men but at least if some respect is shown then maybe who knows . I guess it may be a generational thing. I don't get upset when people use bad language on here in fact I have/will as this is an open forum but if I was on the bus with my mam or if I was there and some people were using bad language and I could tell that people were uncomfortable with it I would speak up.

This is what I mean though. Swearing just because you can shouldn’t be acceptable. Go back to my example of public transport. Not everyone wants to hear it and in most cases it adds nothing to what you’re saying.

Fully agree with the use of bad language in public places, and it is without doubt becoming more common, and with other posters re well educated and articulate people's use of bad language.
Having said that, a former work colleague words " the ****ing kettle's ****ing ****ed" still makes me smile.

I try not to swear, it has no impact if used all the time.

Do you think that’s why they played the game against Wimbledon..fear of sanctions against the club with the takeover close sanctions the new ownership wouldn’t want to deal with or pay for??
Or am I overthinking this and Sunderland just didn’t get clarity from the EFL.

I swore once in front of my dad by accident when I was about 12 when we were on our way home from somewhere. I don't even know why I swore now, it just slipped out, ***king hell is what I said.
It's fair to say I never done that again in front of him, I was physically lifted out of the car when we got home, whacked all the way up the stairs and deposited into bed for the rest of the day with me sobbing. I learned my lesson and all was forgotten pretty quickly. My mam broke the ice by bringing up my tea on a tray, egg and chips I think it was.

It's a bloody good article, and hits most of the points correctly. Much as I hate that paper. I always think that Martin Samuel is a good journalist and I ca t disagree with much he's written here.

I posted on here a few weeks back that I know hindsight is a beautiful thing but I genuinely didn't take to them from the off. Too quick to say yes to everything asked. Alarm bells rang straight away when he said he'd need investments if we went up. So much so I didnt put my name down to change the seats. Back to back relegations took it out of me, that married with some personal stuff meant by the time I stated to give a toss again, the wheels had started to come off the 3 wheeler. But don't get pissed off that you feel you had been taken in, they're very good talkers and we the fans needed something fresh and new to look forward to mate.

My Lad and i helped change the seats , more than once. I never once thought I was doing it for the Chancers.. We did it for love of our Club, no more, no less. i too respect everyone's view, I do yours but i think most were taken in ,especially after the previous disastrous two seasons... It felt like, having been stuck underground for an eternity, a little chink of light shinning at the end of this dark tunnel.

Will probably get pelters for this but I believe he had the clubs best intentions from the start but went all in for promotion with no plan B...hence the desperation to buy Grigg. Like a lot of owners and managers we have had the passion around this club gets to you and you make rash decisions.

Saying that I lost all faith when he folded like a cheap suit after the fanzines announced that joint statement. He should have come out fighting and not hid under a rock.

Quite agree, from what it said about EFL petty rules and regulations could be some of the hold up with their legal side of the deal.
Sadly l didn't realise how much they can impact promotion and relegation

SD and Co have shown their hand with regards to the ‘takeover’
KLD holds all the cards now. He can come in again and offer less money and ask for more % and it will be a much different deal to what was reported in the press 3 weeks ago
If SD decides against the ‘new’ deal, then he’s got very few options left to turn, and will have to take the EFL loan to continue to run the club. This comes with its own ramifications, and will have any other consortiums, if actually interested, run a mile as a result
Obviously the EFL loan won’t be enough if we are truly losing £1m a month, so this then opens the door for FPP to take the clubs assets if the £11.5m loan can’t be Paid back
Which ever way you look at it, SD has backed himself into a corner. He can accept something now off KLD and at least gets something, or try and soldier on and end up with next to nothing when FPP take over

The first time I remember swearing In front of my dad I was 18 and having a beer with him on a Sunday morning with all his mates and he said to me it's OK to swear when you are with adults but you don't swear in front of or at women or kids unless you are telling a joke that requires swearing. He was a miner and from a different generation but I guess those words stuck. He was a guy who worked hard and played hard but also showed certain respect and humility and sometimes I think society could do with a bit of civility and dignity.

A mate from school once worked at a pea factory as his summer job (picking bad peas and stones off a conveyor belt) he tells a story of one of the charge hands screaming one day when a machine had stopped working "when I find the ****ing ****er that`s ****ed that ****ing ****er then that ****ing ****er`s ****ing ****ed"

I think he meant he was slightly cross about the machine being mistreated and wished to chastise the reprobate who was responsible for the incident

Think I may have been a bit younger (can't be remember) but came out with those exact words and I didn't realise he (my dad) was right behind me. I was walking to the car carrying a heavy suitcase, trying to help as kids do and it was too heavy and it's the point when I stopped walking to drop the bag I uttered the fatal words. My brother said my legs didn't touch the ground heading back into the house
