He's the only name I've been given and I'd be happy but I don't want to mislead anyone.

There's no agreement or anything but I suspect there's been contact with various agents etc.

IMO we need someone unpleasant who the players will fear and the supporters may not even like.

This is no time for romance, we need the manager to rule the roost.

I think this is why Sam Allardyce brings a large backroom staff with him, yes they all have different jobs that complement what he wants to achieve but also means the managers clique is bigger or as big as any player clique.

Why not just go for Eddie Howe.

Give him what he wants.

Massive challenge for him. But the rewards would far exceed that
There’s the dilemma. I would love the Bournemouth Eddie Howe. But there’s a good chance we’d get the Burnley Eddie Howe. Really glad I don’t have to make the call. I hope whoever they chose it’s done with an eye to the bigger picture and creating a structure and style for the club we can all get behind

Not for me he was here 16 months, no real improvement his two signings from Brighton who he insisted on signing were not good
Imo he had given up and accepted relegation, the older profesionals Oshea, brown
Cattermole ,Larson got the team playing with a bit of fight and Connor wickam stopped posing for a few weeks knocked a few goals in and we had a miracle.
Bridcutt first signing nailed on. Loved Poyet when he first came , it really was a miracle escape and we actually played football and had a style. Was awful in the end though and thought he made some comments below the belt about fans. Guess it depends how ambitious we are going to be. If it’s between poyet and another manager from league 1 i’d rather have poyet. Surely he would get us out of this league? I still think mick McCarthy would have been a safer bet for getting promoted mind but obviously he’s taken now.

Agree with both posts. I loved the football when he first arrived, the league Cup run and the miracle when we stayed up, but second season he lost his way badly after the Southampton thrashing, particularly after Christmas. He didn't seem to know what to do to change things when they were going wrong and towards the end it felt as if it was as bad as we've ever been. I remember a game against Villa towards the end of his time where fans were streaming out at half time. I wasn't there because of work commitments that Saturday, but I remember seeing fans pouring over the bridge and past my office before 4 o'clock, we were 4 nil down at half time against a not very good Villa team, and it could have been a lot worse. He certainly wouldn't be my first choice, but I'd guess he'd be better than Parky, but I'd rather it was someone else over all

I liked Poyet a lot. If he had money to spend I think he’d be a massive success but does he guarantee you promotion from league one? Can he get this average league one squad to play the way he wants?

This is my worry with Gus mate, like some already posted he would bring a style we could build around....the prob is this season we are running out of time, we NEED promotion simpke as, if it looked crap & got us up id be ok with that, its horrific now but if Parkinson had us top doing it id settle, but he wont take us up & id worry Gus would need more time & would not budge on style to get the job done.

Id bite yer hand off for BSA, football was fantastic at end but hes not scared to mix it up & let it be **** if got the job done. might be to much to ask to get him

Bobus the Madus one is back on RTG indicating deal not done yet. All good fun this isn't it?

It's all mad isnt it mate.

Storey offering to buy the club, during a period of exclusivity, without doing due diligence.

Bob's a lad isn't he, claimed there would be no takeover ...

... now he's discussing it like he believes there is one.

Storey still spouting **** on twitter...

"It is absolutely on [the takeover]...and at the very end process. Beyond that you will have to wait for official news"

If the takeover goes through with absolutely no connection to Storey and he never mentions us again it'll be one of the most baffling scenarios I've ever come across.

If all he wants is publicity then pretend to be buying Liverpool FFS. Maybe he's insane but he doesn't seem it. If it's a wind up then it's the ****test wind up ever because it's not remotely funny. We're an easy target for a piss take but nothing he's said has been anything other than sincere sounding.

Real head scratcher.

He's just started following me on Twitter. I don't understand him at all.

Top answer we’ve been missing that for long enough

I’d like to see BSA back in the fold he left us with a big job to finish and I felt at the time we were heading in the right direction if he came back he’d have a hell of a job just to get us back where we were

Love to see that too. I wonder if Sam as DoF with a young manager like Howe learning from him might be the dream setup though. Might suit Allardyce more at this stage of his life, less pressure on matchday but plenty of behind the scenes stuff to work on.

Getting Poyet back would be a bad decision in my opinion. Easy /cheap? for Sartori to sort and he's just told a fanzine he would like to come back. He lost the plot at Safc after Soton and has not managed for 2 years. We need someone who has recent experience of getting a team out of league 1, not ten years ago. Cook/Jones/Stendel/maybe even owl faced twot Bowyer.
If we did get Poyet back it would take some pressure off Grigg, Graham and Wyke as we'd spend so long passing it around at the back the balls up front would be a lot less ergo less sitters to miss. Is the now the time for a reset or club identity or to get out of this division this season before its too late and then build?

PDC then!

I’m not sure a decent manager on his own is enough.

We have a salary cap of £2.5m which severely limits buying our way out of trouble.

As far as I can work out £2.5m only applies to player wages so a big backroom team of scouts, assistants fitness experts etc wouldn’t be subject to the salary cap.

We could put together a continental-style management team to make sure we get the best players available, set them up well and train them well.

Would be nice to pension off a lot of our overpaid ****e and replace them with younger, hungrier players.

SD was kind enough to sell our youth so a few of them would be good too, especially if they are also exempt from the wage cap and able to play in the first team now and again.
