I’ve never heard the phrase ‘cut his teeth’ before. What does it mean?L'equipe are reporting that Kyrils mam has told him to cut his teeth at Sunderland before asking an investment in Marseille. Seems odd as he already gets involved there

If only there was something that we could have at our fingertips, a portable device if you like, that we could type in a question and an answer could be given. Until that day comes then I fear we will just have to continue using the internet.I’ve never heard the phrase ‘cut his teeth’ before. What does it mean?
Tin hat on...and maybe over thinking this or talking crap lol...not just blaming the last 2 manager’s but i’ve thought this for quiet a while now that some of these player’s are to ‘comfy’ at Sunderland with the facilities available to them compared to other league 1 club’s and have no interest at been promoted out of this league because they are not good enough to play at a higher level so are happy plodding along in league 1.
That’s where Quinny got it bang on, Keane as manager was a risk but it lifted everyone and went and invested. Needs to happen again this time, Id try tempt Gerrard away from rangers
Which is why we need young ambitious players on the up, instead of a bunch of has been's or never been's.
The piss taking stops here.We have to stop this and the only way is to have a strict policy and stick to it.
The players we have are League One plodders, this is probably the biggest club they will play for. If we get promoted, they will be ditched, with very few exceptions
Exactly mate, exactly.
Contracts are the death of our club because we give them to the wrong people.
What motivation is there for Graham to even play, never mind train or make an effort.
The answer is zero.
But give that contract to a young lad, with dreams of greatness, and he'll do everything to get another bigger & better contract with us or elsewhere.
Players like Graham, Maguire, McGeady, etc, are good enough to earn a contract but too lazy to earn a new one.
We have to stop this and the only way is to have a strict policy and stick to it.

Grigg's next move should be to the job centre!Hopefully that’s going to be Griggs next move sorted then.
I'm not allowing the current results, etc to spoil my optimism over the takeover news. Nor am I letting lazy journalism like the Times article bother me.
It's heartening to see the French media talking about Dreyfus, and his plans, even if our own seems to be slow on the uptake.
As with FPP, the Dreyfus camp, seem to be looking for top level guidance and want to employ someone to oversee the club. That's particularly interesting to me as I've still heard nothing about FPP pulling out. They spend a fair bit of time, effort and money on feasibility studies and finding people who could provide a solid foundation for the club. It wouldn't be impossible that all this information and resource is being shared.
Le Figaro and L'equipe appear to be the place to look for answers.
Odd thing to report when his Mam only owns 5% of Marseille. He wouldn't even have a say at Marseille even if he did 'cut his teeth' at Sunderland. She sold the club in 2016.

I don't think it's the 'good' River Plate, but the Uruguayan River Plate. Also, with work permit rules, we'll unlikely see any of the players over here.
It means learn his trade basicallyI’ve never heard the phrase ‘cut his teeth’ before. What does it mean?
And, isn't that perception part of the problem, this is what FPP wanted to change.
That river is a massive resource that's totally under used and appreciated.
It could, and should imo, be a big part of the club.
Let's have a park & ride licensed ferry and an escalator![]()
Sounds good to me. Take an escalator from the Quayside to St Peter's Metro Station, and another one to the Monorail terminal.

The Metro station was deemed 'unfit for purpose' in the feasibility studies, as well as the various approaches to the ground.
I love it all because it's like it's all stuck in the 70's, happy days for me, but it looks shyte for new people, families or visitors.
Spot on Smug, our bunch of journeymen, with a couple of exceptions, are at the apex of their career and their only direction is downwards. We need to sign or develop players on the up who have ambition in the game.Exactly mate, exactly.
