Could be either. Posting something that doesn't conform to the party line, and then defending your position, shouldn't be a banning offence though, in my opinion.
Anyway, he's banned now so that's that. I just hope he's the last that gets a ban for disagreeing.

He was rather repetitive, to be fair.

He was, it was adding pages to the thread with no benefit. One of the positives of this thread compared to the SMB is that it's easier and quicker to catch up on. There's a bit of off topic stuff (and canny pictures) which is all good, but he was at risk of making it tedious for everyone. Think it's just a thread ban, so he can still post about other things if he wants to, but he's made his point about the takeover so at least now those who think there might be something to discuss can do it without seeing him repeat the same thing time after time

hmmm, NQD...i did give a few 'outs' for him if he wanted to use them and tried to be impartial but there were signs that he was anything but a 'new first time poster', i say it time and time again, the written/typed word has no emotion in it at all and many things can be taken the wrong way entirely, however innocent but there is also a way to post without sounding as if your whole reason for posting is to start and continue an argument.

a decent mod will allow a little time to see if things look like escalating then he/she will act and in the interests of the board the old adage of 'last in first out' will usually come into play as on most boards of this type a 'noob' will generally make a few posts and get to know posters rather than jumping straight in causing unrest...i agree that NQD has been given a rest rather than a complete ban, gives him/her time to think and regulrs a chance to cool down then hopefully everyone can start from scratch again.

Don't get me wrong my personal opinion is that he's full of **** but even if that was indisputable fact it's not a banning/'resting' offence.

I think the mods, or one mod anyway is getting personal requests for bans and is hitting the ban hammer on that basis, which wouldn't be cool if that was the case. You can always ignore people you don't like nobody's forcing you to read their bullshit.

If he's lying and being disruptive, I disagree, I think that is a banning offence. And he's not banned as such, got a holiday from this thread for a week is all.

And advance apologies if I'm wrong, but hope your not referring to me with that last bit. I'm not that snide and I've seen how this pplace gets modded with mittens copping his ban marra. Knew it would only be a matter of time before NQD got the same with the way he was going on.

I'm not a PF refugee as you put it marra. I was posting on 606 when it was under the BBC banner, username was theinediblebulk. Stopped posting on here when the Beeb kicked it and signed up to PF. Stopped posting on there about 4 year ago and signed back up on here last year as 1: I missed the Sunderland banter as an exile and 2: it was a lot more relaxed and chilled than PF was.

The whole clique thing is a nonsense, and @Gordon Armstrong doesn't lay bans out on folk for a bit disagreement. He's a better mod than that. Only other ****er he's banned was mittens and he made the correct decision there an all. NQD was going way beyond simple disagreement and having a freindly back and forth about it. Sucking up party? the big ITK? Accept without hesitation? He's proper got an axe to grind with @Smug in Boots and managed to achieve that after posting for four days. That's some going. And I'm not any kind of smug fan boy but he did post all the way back when I posted on PF and plenty posters had good words to say about him all the way back then, and still do today. He's sorted plenty tickets for folk and if I ever needed one for a match, I'd have no hesitation asking him to sort me out. And even though he's never met me, I bet my last dollar if he could get me a ticket, he would. He's got years worth of references imo and that's why I'll take what he says in good faith. He even divulged his source last year ffs, it was the art dealer mate of Fuhrman iirc. NQD can't even get that right.

I posted on the Beeb 606 briefly and then joined up on here later.

Fair enough. I don't agree with you on much of that but everyone's got their own opinion.

TBF marra, I'm disagreeing with a few folk on this thread and it isn't nasty, just folk putting over their respective views in a respectful manner to each other. As for getting banned for speaking your point of view, not going to happen imo. Only 2 posters I've seen get banned since I signed back up are kittens and NQD, both deservedly so imo.

It just seems strange to me that all the long term posters on here have comfortably put up with a Mariana Trench depth of crap from rival fans for roughly ten years and now we're banning people (Sunderland fans) who have been making some mildly annoying posts when the ignore function is right there.

Yes it makes life easier when nobody disagrees with or annoys you but that's what I want for my four year old not what I expect for my 37 year old self.

If you got banned from here for making slightly annoying posts I'd have had me bags packed for me a long time ago. And speaking for myself it isn't about using the ignore function, it's about a what kind of culture a board has and what balance you want. Personally, the only 2 posters that I've found to be complete wind ups were mittens and NQD so the culture on here fits my mentality perfectly, couldn't be happier. If I want something a bit more wild west I've always got the option of PF. If I want CCP style levels I'll become a scouser and sign up to RAWK.
