I think he meant getting out of this league. I agree with you that there are very few in the current squad who could cut it in the Championship. Income would be a little greater if we were to get up, so we could use that, and we may attract a bigger sponsorship deal. Other than that, whoever takes over will need to spend in order for us to consolidate in the next flight. I think reaching the Premier will take a lot longer than some people think.
If we'd continued doing what we were doing, I would agree 100% with you, but they have got rid of Huey and Duey in the recruitment department, and we now seem to be looking for round pegs to fit the round holes, so that is more encouraging. I think we would have a few more over the line if it hadn't been for this Salary cap issue, and it's noticeable that no one seems to be strengthening to any great extent. MacAnthony at Peterborough always says he likes to get his business done early in the window, but even they haven't added any great numbers. Everyone (managers, players and agents) seem to be waiting to see if this cap will be declared void before determining their spending budget.
"The big book of Donaldisms and Methven Condescensions". Amaze yourself with the downright lies, self contradicting sentences, and blame shifting buzzwords our Lords and Masters have brought us in their two seasons running our club. Could be a best seller on Wearside this Xmas
10 out of 10 post mate. I can’t believe that for the first time in as long as I can remember I haven’t renewed. Simply put I have fallen out of love with the club and despise the people in charge. hopefully things can change soon because simply put SAFC have played a massive part of my life and living in north tyneside for most of it hasn’t always made it easy!! fFingers crossed CM and SD get out soon.
3 from mine. Not going back until it’s full capacity allowed (will pick and choose games as and when I fancy) or them two bastards and their cronies have ****ed as far away from our club as possible. First time in 15 years all three of us haven't renewed. Killed me not doing it, but I just can’t for the life of me knowingly line that odious little toad’s pockets.
Once a filthy rich buyer does come in, then it's just TV money after that, agreed, but the it's the amount of fans that care so deeply about SAFC where we do play a real part - even if just making us interesting to a buyer in the first place. I realize that more fans just means more money to the investor and ultimately we would just become something else on TV, but the only reason I can see why Sunderland is still kicking around in the 'big club' conversation among billionaires, despite the years and years of underachievement, is the fans still being here, despite everything over the years. I don't just mean now - i mean all of it - all the relegations, the stagnation in the 90s before Reid, the previous 3rd division nightmare, always losing at Wembley, all of it.
Sure some will have seen Prehabs post on RTG. First one in a while. He messaged me this evening before the post. Said it's crunch time, has to happen. He is getting worried that SD has talked himself out of any deal.
Evening All. I didn't want to start a thread just to simply say hello, so seeing as this is a very popular thread I thought I'd jump in here. New to all this so don't really know what to expect. Had thought of signing up over the road but if you're new over there you're accused of being a Mag etc. I'm in no way a mag. Sunderland supporter all my natch, season ticket holder, highs (not many) and lows. So hello everyone.
Thank you Mr Armstrong. No offence intended to anyone over the road, but this side seems more mellow. Just here for polite conversation and catch up with any and all Sunderland news.
I'd just like to say that Nick Barnes is what he is. 99% of people, on here, are just decent ordinary Sunderland supporters who chat about the club ... ... anyone causing bother usually just vanishes without trace. Hope you enjoy it on here.
Thank you Mr Smug. I've looked in from a far for a while now to size things up and it seems a good place to chat. Obviously I'll have my options on all things on Sunderland and will get more involved as I find my feet. Thank you for the brief summary mate.
