The last I heard was that the club had sheved talks to see what he was like after injury so that may be the cause of any delay if true

Only time will tell with stewart. I doubt anyone knows what he is thinking, or what his plans are. We can guess but unless you are part of his inner circle not sure anyone can claim what he is like.

In my opinion if he gets back to full fitness I would back him to be league top scorer in our team. On that basis I hope he stays with us this season.

Stewart deserves to be the highest paid player at the club, I wonder if we are waiting until the other contracts are sorted out first so that his contract has no influence on other players accepting what's on offer to them, then once the other contracts are sorted we will know exactly how much we can offer him under the current FFP restraints.

That’s my hope, but if I am wrong and we can't give him what he wants his value will decrease to zero over the next season, so I reckon it would be prudent to move him on in the summer.
