Don't want to be age-ist, but this is really looking like the whole view of being more data driven is coming to fruition.

Young owner who loves football manager
Young Sporting Director who is focused on developing players
Young head coach who is about bringing the best out of the players he has and building a sense of sum greater than parts.

It definitely screams long term focus for anyone worried about short term-ism.

Technical Director: is that the same as Director of Football? Sorry, but I come from a generation when there was a board of directors and a manager and that was it.

Call me old fashioned but just read the echo there saying we are after a head coach rather than manager. I hope the manager is still going to have a say in transfers

They need to get this takeover through asap to put an end to the ever growing negativity from certain parties, also to start putting some pride back in the club. I drove through the car park yesterday and the way the area has been allowed to become tatty and overgrown is embarrassing

Bollocks to them mate, they need to get the takeover done for all the decent people who support the club and hope things will become better.

The pro-pessimists will never be happy, no matter what.

@Prehab26 @Magnus So is this the guy we expect to be running the club day to day given the owners won’t be in the country much? I know it was said that this role would be working above Rodwell in the hierarchy

The new lad will be the main one is the crack,

SPD will listen to KLD and sartori,
Everyone else will listen to SPD

Edit

or technical director by the looks of the reports

My understanding of nuances - and should never read too much into it as going to be different everywhere:

Director of Football - old fashioned term for an old manager to be the link between a younger manager / head coach and the board.
Sporting Director - very senior role on board of directors - essentially the equivalent of a Managing Director - but focusing on everything sport related - first team, academy, scouting, fitness, nutrition. With the MD focused on admin
Technical Director - similar remit to sporting director but with slightly less power. not necesarilly on board of directors. may have less input on first team matter but will have some. will still have responsibility for academy, training, coaching, scouting etc

There is no where to suggest we would sell them on. That is not his call. He has done his job correctly if there is lots of interest.
I suppose it depends on his role. If he’s coming in as academy manager then it won’t be his call to sell on upcoming talent but as DOF it would defo be. I think he’d be great for the academy but I’d prefer a more experienced DOF with better contacts.

Look at the players he has helped bring through. Its not all about where that team finished. They have also had a rough time of it over the last decade with ownership etc

Bringing the kids through is massive for a club like us. The north east is a hotbed of young talent and we need to start tapping into that more, hopefully with a manager willing to give the youngsters a shot.

No doubt it is all part of making the club more self sustainable.
