If the Commission finds that boundary changes would benefit the whole area, who will have the final say?
Any change to Hull’s boundaries could only take place following an order by the Secretary of State based on a recommendation from the government’s national Boundary Commission for England. It would be the responsibility of this body to consult with local people to get their views before making any recommendations to the Secretary of State.

ER just getting it in early job done.

Exactly. The referendum has taken place and the people have spoken.

DMD still hasn't provided evidence that proves ERYC overspend more than HCC, or that they do more harm to greenbelts than HCC.

I haven't proved if man landed on the moon or not and that's probably more relevant to the commission.

Nope, the boundary commission will carry out their ow review IF boundaries are the issue. It really was a meaningless waste of time and money.

I do believe there is a set criteria when it comes reaching a decision and consultation of residents is one.

Just as it should be.

Why has it, would you have voted yes to be engulfed by ERYC?

How utterly irrelevant. Wouldn't you have been better asking me how I would've voted as a resident of the ER?

The argument used for charging ER folk for using HCC services is both stupid, childish & irrelevant.

No it isn't. Local people, who contribute most to the local council's tax take, via their Council Tax, should get perks for this.

If it did happen there would only be one group of losers & that would be the people of Hull.

No there wouldn't. Are you saying people would stop visiting our fine museums? What complete tosh.

Democracy has spoken, why take it so personal?
Congratulations. I'm 49 years old on Sunday and you've just asked one of the daftest questions anyone has ever asked me during that time.

The nimby's have been out in force in E.Yorkshire looking at the vote results today.

Maybe HCC should start charging folks who have a HU postcode that is outside the HCC boundary for visits to the museum quarter etc, after all they don't want to be part of Hull so why should they receive the Benifits of being from Hull.

AA out! etc!

In all probability, IF the boundary's an issue, the recent ballot asks the wrong questions and is meaningless.

They don't to use data like that as it's quite likely the wrong question asked. A better question is why are ERYC fearful of and independent commission.

This was the question:

"should the boundaries of Hull be extended to include Anlaby with Anlaby Common, Bilton, Cottingham, Elloughton cum Brough, Hedon, Hessle, Kirk Ella, North Ferriby, Preston, Swanland, Welton and Willerby?"

It's a simple question, and 96% said No.

Why do you think you know better than all the people in the East Riding? The National Boundary Commission will take this into consideration when making a decision.

You haven't read the link have you.

i wish all those areas became part of hull, then wed have probably the best city in the uk

As is the quality of teaching in the ER
I didn't want to say this, but seeing as you've broached it, I would say I've seen more poor teaching in ER schools than in Hull schools. Don't even get me started on the resourcing and infrastructure...

Do HCC want to extend the boundaries?

I might be missing something here but where did this idea actually come from?

You haven't read the link have you.

Yes, I have. HCC want to extend their boundaries and the National Boundary Commission will make a decision. The opinions of people living in the East Riding will be taken into consideration.

Have you read the link?

It's probably a reflection of the fact that he isn't tainted by the snobbery that exists in many ER residents.

It's ironic because he thinks he knows best for the people of the East Riding. He also thinks the people of the East Riding aren't intelligent enough to understand a question in a referendum. Some people in the East Riding are snobs who dislike Hull, but the only person on here behaving like a snob is DMD.
