Cityswall;7132577]The nimby's have been out in force in E.Yorkshire looking at the vote results today.

Maybe HCC should start charging folks who have a HU postcode that is outside the HCC boundary for visits to the museum quarter etc, after all they don't want to be part of Hull so why should they receive the Benifits of being from Hull.

Or maybe East Riding should start charging folk from Hull for visiting the coast, markets and grand buildings

Total crap, you think the East Riding Council is any better? A lot of the flooding in the East Riding in 2007 was caused by the gulley drains being blocked by leaves due to them never been cleaned by the council, don't get me wrong Hull council where equally responsible for this oversite. The difference is Hull Council now regularly clean their gulley sinks whereas East Riding?? Well I have seen the ones near me cleaned once since 2007 and every time it rains heavily you can guarantee at least 1" of water on the road. That is just one of the better services Hull City council provide and I'm paying £100 more in Council Tax for the privilige of having a parish council. I am proud to say I voted yes in totally unnecassary referrendum.

Since those floods near to where i am moving in Cottingham i have seen them cleaned twice in the time i have been looking to purchase that house, so twice in two months (max), i wouldn't say is to bad.

I am not saying the ERYC are good but in comparison to Hull they are a bunch of genius's.

Heaven forbid the residents of the East Riding having their say in a democratic vote.

Maybe HCC could just annex parts of the East Riding against the will of the occupants.

Blitzkrieg those areas unwilling to conform.

Including the benefits of the Hull schools like wot you had !

If you actually kept abreast of local news you might actually find that most of Hull's schools are as good as if not better than East Ridings. Hull Council is also NOT closing Primary Schools down thereby increasing the school bus costs to the taxpayer

Err...what evidence are you using for that completely incorrect statement? Use any measure you care to use, Hull schools lag far behing ER schools . Gcse rates, levels of progress, value added data etc etc.

Good for them for voting No. Hull City Council is a bag of **** and any expansion would spread its ****ness to other parts of the East Riding.

The 'other parts of the East Riding' would be able to vote the '****ness' out. If people were not so narrow minded they might see that. As for this 'vote', it had as much credibility as the 'Vote Yes to Hull Tigers, or else' fiasco.
Tell me, if this 'vote' was supposed to be just for those living close to the Hull boundary, why were ERCC employees allowed to vote?

So name one school in the East Riding that is now part of a national group that is been used to teach the teachers of tomorrow. It was only a week or two that Sirius Acadamy was in the HDM as been one of those schools. You don't get in that group by been a crap school.

Are you saying there shouldn't have been a vote? Are you saying Hull City Council should annex parts of the East Riding without the consent of the people? The vote had a 75% turnout with over 96% voting against the proposal. That's democracy. Maybe the people of the East Riding don't want a council that overspends £4.5 million.

"Democracy is about having your say, but not necessarily getting your way."
