Just pondering and gauging opinion.

How long can we wait before appointing a new head coach? Transfer window looming, pre season preparation to agree and organise, contracts (rigg) to be agreed and sorted.

Whilst the head coach may not have full control on these matters, they just surely have an input?

If it goes beyond this week it could affect the start of the transfer window and they really need to get this transfer window right.

I'd be pretty irritated if we don't have someone in place by Monday morning.

This week at the latest. Teams are already signing players now. I think an often ignored factor is someone settling in here, especially if it's someone from abroad so i'd want them settled before pre season.

I hope they have someone in by this weekend, next weekend at an extreme push. Anything later than that is neglect, and I'm one of the calmest about it <laugh>

It needs to be done ASAP.

The contract stuff will be taken care of regardless, but the new man has to be in place well before the players return, imo.

I’d like to think it’ll be sorted this week.

I'm sure Heckingbottom is OK for this league but I'd rather have someone who wants to get to the top ...

... I don't want another Steve Bruce who thought he'd achieved great success when he fluked us into 7th on a big budget.

10th mate, let’s not overdue the Bruce.

Actually built then alienated a great side, exactly what you say, that was his ceiling.

I know we usually change them every 6 months but be great to have someone capable of running a 3-4 year growth cycle.

I'm sick of managers who realistically probably won't ever be hired at a bigger club than ours, similar maybe, but we are the absolute limit for our last what 20 managers?

I'd like someone who sees us as a stepping stone to the champions league etc. And drags us up with them.

That's frighteningly true, although arguably Moyes and Allardyce went on to better things. Anyone since them, and a lot before, we've been their highpoint. And we've been down pretty low.

I genuinely fancied Poyet mate after what he’d done at Brighton but he then turned out to have that ceiling ha.

Other that that, like you say, all of the same vein.

I do very occasionally wonder what Jack Ross would have done had we gone up that year, but then we’d still be stuck with tweedledum and tweedletwat potentially.

Aye, so the start of the season, not 2 months before?

Are you well lad? How is June more accurate than August <laugh>

They were totally different squads those 2 months apart.

If the question is "Did Heckingbottom exceed expectations at Sheff Utd in 2022/23", we need to compare the odds the bookmakers were predicting and their finishing league position. I have provided odds from before season started, both for June and the end of July and they were not 1st or 2nd according to the bookmakers odds (usually 4th or 5th), if you have data to contradict that please go ahead and reveal it.

It isn't more complicated than that.

I literally just told you a post from 10th August ONE WEEK into season with on the whole starting squads.

This is far more accurate than 2 months before the season. I’m bored of explaining if you feel your dates are more accurate than the actual squads that start the seasons then sound pal.

I ain’t predicting anything in June or July cos that would be silly.

I’ve nowt to add. I d not want or rate Hecky. Simple as that. Gan argue with your dog or summat.

What I will add is, under KLD we always go radio silent for a month after the season is finished. We normally have a statement or interview to end the season, which is missing this year.

We also have previous in signing players and players signing contract extensions which don't get made public straight away.

Maybe I'm being too positive but I'm hoping they've got stuff sorted and are going to come out with a bang soon.

Sounds like he has a pretty cushty job with the neighbours now.

Might just not fancy thr pressure of being a head coach, wouldn't blame him.

Poyet is one of my least favourite coaches here, remember him being highly rated but I absolutely hated the tedious sideways passing with a passion.

Would prefer to play like Stoke at the height of their throw in days to that.

Aye the reality never matched the hopes, as usual.

Left some good memories mind.
