The Lens supporters really starting to kick off now ...

... their owner seems to be doing 'a Short' and closing the chequebook.

Joseph Oughourlian, le propriétaire du RC Lens, a annoncé un retour à la « rigueur budgétaire ». Cela passera par des départs, dont celui d'Elye Wahi. https://ow.ly/VbAJ50S7GAj

"One year and then gone? Arriving last summer from Montpellier for €30 million, Elye Wahi should already leave RC Lens. Despite a first season with twelve goals and four assists in 37 matches, all competitions combined, the striker is concerned by the desire of the Lens leaders to return to a budgetary balance which they consider more reasonable.

All parties have agreed to leave in the coming weeks, like other elements of the northern club. It now remains to find the club. Elye Wahi has supporters in England and Germany. With this decision confirmed, negotiations should accelerate in the coming days."

this does seem to be a little more commonplace these days, clubs looking to cut costs because the owners paying the losses are starting to close the cheque books...yet our fans (some of them, not all of course) can be found in tw@tter and such like screaming for our owners to spend, spend, spend
despite the growing evidence that such actions cannot be maintained, bar the obvious six or so in this country and even those could feel the pinch soon.

KLD appears to have given plenty of assurances to WS and i am currently thinking we are the best bet, i know lens have euro football but that is a different ball game against the 'elite' clubs plus the word coming from lens that they need to tighten the belt and may well lose the best players makes it sound very much like he will not have anywhere near the squad he would want, whereas we, even if we have to sell a couple of players, are in a league where we should be able to replace them with ease.*

* i say that thinking/hoping this summer recruitment has to be better than the last two windows.

Excellent post.

Challinor would be a good appointment btw. Done a good job everywhere he's been and his play style suits this squad.

Where someone comes from doesn't matter, like i've said previously Xabi Alonso was relegated from the spanish second division with Sociedads B team, yet Leverkusen still hired him.

Look at how the coach would suit us, not what they have done previously.

True mate.

Everyone starts somewhere. When someone blows up it’s often right place right time.

Wouldn’t inspire, but would any of us have wanted Rohl when he went Sheff Wed?

Challinor’s record…

Respect sour patch’ opinion but same ball park as Robinson for me. Such a huge step up from clubs like this to Sunderland and wouldn’t get me excited at all. If we were in league 1 then yes I could I get taking a chance but not for where we are now.

Sure posters will say the likes of Maric etc are big risks but they have worked at massive clubs like Bayern at the highest level seeing the highest standards. I could understand a risk in someone like that rather than someone who was at Hartlepool a couple of years ago with all respect to them.
