I've gone over and it's more a case of a resigned pessimism ATM. I like to prod them a bit now and then, but tend to avoid a blatant wum, so I'm not expecting a ban. Never know though... :)

The most imaginative malicious Mackem couldn't have dreamt up a more demoralising script.

Takeover by Man City's richer brother, Rafa given a pot of gold and his own personal genie and top class players given their own his & her private jets.

Then Bruce waddles into Toon to join Ashley's vision of eternal mediocrity ...
... you couldn't make it up could you <laugh>

Not if you planned it! Could only be bettered by re-hiring She-Ra, goddess of charisma, as manager <laugh>

Just read this...would be a right kick in nuts for Mrs Doubtfire is this was true.

"Tuesday lunchtime has seen shock reports from France, claiming that Bruno Genesio is going to be announced as the new Newcastle United manager.

The claim comes from Lyon based newspaper Le Progres who state that Genesio is now in England and set to sign for NUFC".

I'd be more than happy with this over Bruce. His first stint as manager didn't end too badly at all :-

Shows the mentality, more interested in a prestigious name than anything else. What exactly has Viera done to show he's a better manager than Bruce?

I don't think its about that at all, well certainly not from my side. I'd rather we took a punt on someone like this ex-Lyon guy, Viera, Arteta than someone who has done the rounds like Bruce, Pulis, Hughes etc. So it's not necessarily aimed at Bruce personally, I'm sure he'd come in and do a steady job.

54% win ratio at a club like Lyon is pretty poor. Average at the very best.

2nd biggest budget in a one horse league and winning about half? I hope you’s do go for him <laugh>

Imagine his stats with the 16th biggest budget in a 16 horse league when most can turn over most. I guess Sir Mike is debating whether to pay Bruce compen.

Viera is a bizarre one as well. Not good in MLS and took a Nice team that was in the CL a year earlier to mid table. Stuff of magic that.

Tbf pretty much everyone thought this would be the outcome - firstly we've had god knows how many takeover rumours in the last 10 years and the fat **** always stays put, secondly Rafa had been very vocal about his frustration with Ashley and I'd have been amazed if he stayed, thirdly we are all well aware now that Ashley will never pay for a decent manager and all he wants is a lower mid table journeyman duffer to do his bidding - Pardew, Kinnear, McClaren etc.

Yeah it's a **** show, but after 12 years of it, no one was really expecting the fat mound of blubber to sell up, especially as the club still makes him money.

Would you want to take a punt on Viera if he had the same amount of managerial experience, as in bugger all with nothing really to recommend him, but he'd never kicked a ball in his life and was totally unknown? I don't know why you would, too big a risk with unknown benefits.

I'd be up for taking a chance with a highly rated young hotshot manager (like Jack Ross:emoticon-0103-cool:) but Viera's only being mentioned because he was a world class player. All of them like that get their chances based on their name and they're nearly always ****e.

I'm prepared to give anybody a go, i'm simply citing my preferences. Bruce doesn't do it for me sadly. He may well be the perfect fit for us similar to Moyes at Everton, Dyche at Burnley and Howe at Bournemouth etc I just can't get past the fact that it's Steve Bruce in all honesty. I can't say it any fairer than that. If he comes in he'll get my support and backing and it won't stop me supporting the team, nothing will. There's bugger all I can do about it, I love football and I love my club so I (like the rest of us) just have to suck it up, or stop going/watching/supporting and stop bleating on about it. The club will be here long after Ashley leaves, there'll be plenty time to party afterwards and look back and think thank **** he's gone....hopefully !!

Ashley has given a series of managers money, brought European football to SJP and engaged Benitez on huge wages.

He's now reached the point whereby he's openly stated he wants shot of the club, can't afford to take it forward and won't spend big money.

You have to admit that's pretty clear.

All Newcastle need is a buyer and I'm old enough to remember the situation when Ashley bought it. He was first and last in the queue of buyers. If he hadn't been conned into buying it the club might well have been in serious financial straits.

Surely Newcastle supporters, at some point, have to grit their teeth and accept that it isn't necessarily always Ashley's fault if the 'buyers' arses drop out when they see the books.

If the club was such a fantastic opportunity/sleeping giant/goldmine there'd be a queue of buyers from SJP to Central Station.

Just popped over to see what they're thinking about the takeover, Bruce, Ashley, etc.

The very last post was about some character called 'Smug', who they claim they don't talk about even though they had him banned ....

... bunch of weirdos tbh.

I pointed out yesterday how we had the exact same situation with RemI Garde and he was an absolute disaster for Villa. I got asked "what's that got to do with this?"

it's a copy and paste scenario where we get hyped up cos he did nothing at a bigger club, we shun an experienced manager with a good record.

Man, I'm getting more sanity on this board at the moment, the ****ing implosion over rumors on our board is embarrassing to be honest.

Those rumors about the French fella are thank God bullshit, if the fans had their way I would expect guaranteed relegation.

That's no big surprise tbh.

Twitter is like a madhouse at the moment with Newcastle posters becoming increasingly hysterical.

One of the protest groups has 'engaged a top law firm' to insist the authorities examine Ashley, as unfit to own the club, and have him removed.

They're claiming he's using the club's money to buy shops <laugh>

Another group is asking Arsenal supporters to boycott their match.

Seriously, Newcastle supporters will soon find that people become sick of them acting like spoilt kids. Yes Ashley has no ambition for the club, doesn't have the personal money to compete at the top ... but he did a TV interview to state that.

The missing link is a buyer and people aren't fighting over the club tbf. It's not really sensible for the supporters to keep claiming these 'takeovers' are ploys by Ashley or that he doesn't want to sell.

Short couldn't sell SAFC as a PL club and they own their ground and have a stadium & training facilities that don't need big money spending on them ...

... and no HMRC investigations ongoing.

Bruce is a safe pair of hands, as long as their best players stay. If not then there's not a lot he or anyone else can do.

Hell of a lot better than Moyes who would have rotted the club from the inside out or any of the other names mentioned for that matter.
