Could very easily. Bruce always insisted on five( though some on here would say it was to give Alex a contract). It gave him the option to play three at the back. We often do when hanging on at the end. This seems to be what's suggested in the article. Would take two of the other 3 centre backs to be injured for him to play, surely won't happen....there's also Christie (and presumably others) who could potentially play at centre back if that happens too.
I get what you’re saying however two of our three forwards are currently injured, so it can happen. This seems to be what's suggested in the article. I think it's unrealistic to talk about us signing a first choice centre back. Jones and Greaves are very highly regarded at this level.
Smith going out does seem to leave us light on numbers so it would be nice to have another for numbers, but on the other hand Smith never plays anyway; when Jones isn't available we play with two left-footers ahead of playing him. We have 3 CBs with extremely good availability records and it's basically unprecedented that two of them are missing at the same time. Obviously it's not impossible and anything can happen, but if we're operating on budgets and making pragmatic decisions, this does seem to be the one area we can afford to take more of a risk on.

Roughly £6.8 million wanted for Abdülkadir Ömür
I should have added that apparently we are his preferred destination. I wouldn’t put it past Acun to pull some manoeuvres in the background to leverage a sale to us.
