There is a Latus on Holderness Road but has recently changed hands. Not impressed with current offerings.
When was there a Latus on Summergangs?I cant recall one in the last 30 years.

For all those berating the cod, I read something last week that said that due to over-fishing there is hardly any cod left in the North Sea, so it's unlikely that you'll be getting any in your chippies.

    Personally I prefer haddock anyway.

Curry sauce - wrong; gravy - wrong; mayonniase - wrong.

I'm not sure. I seem to recall that some years ago there was a shortage of haddock, probably due to over-fishing, which is when I noticed that there was an increase in the use of cod in chippies. Haddock used to be the norm but then it changed to cod being the norm and you had to ask for haddock (if they had any).

As long as there isn't a potato famine in this country, there'll be enough Patties for everyone.

Latus on Newland was best ever, but because I used to live down Exmouth laziness meant I always used their chippy.
The one on Newland near the bank is now run by a young Chinese bloke isn't bad though.

Carvers - the best. Snack, Chip Butty (maybe a pattie on the side) - or the full blown haddock chips & peas - nice...drooool!

Apologies for my late entry on this thread, I have only briefly perused these pages of late.

Right, down to business. I don't **** about.

For me, fish (haddock), chips and mushy peas, with a pickled onion cheekily thrown in too. Ouuuussh! Pick that one out.

Golden Fry in town, or Dundee on Chants would be the places for me, but I'm not a snob about it. All Electric on Bev Road is a bit of a corker too, but if I'm up there I'm usually off to Golden Star. Look, that's just the way it is! I in no way wish to besmirch the fine name of the chippy, but a Chinese is normally my favoured vice.

Oh, if you get offered scraps, take 'em! I often forget about scraps until it's too late, but they are a treat. Don't be complacent like me.

Then, obviously, liberally douse with vinegar & sprinkle with salt. Done.

I find that this is what works for me, but we're all different. Some of you will probably eat spam fritters. That **** is not ok, frankly, but if it makes you happy then go forth and prosper. I would personally rather cut my own cock off, but that's just me.

    Use this information wisely.

    Party!

Cod Roe is battered Cod Roe, it should not in any way be confused with a pattie.

It's horrible stuff, as is a spam fritter, as Party has mentioned.

Haddock, pattie, chips, scraps, bread cake, peas are all acceptable, as is the odd pickle if you're that way inclined, but everything else is simply wrong.
