Elmo - He's a wing-back. Meyler - Not as good as Quinn. Diame - So, never then. To conclude, we don't have a better midfielder than Quinn.
Also on Andre Gray, for me that's the type of signing we should be making with regards to strikers. Young, eager to impress and a looks a good goalscorer as well judging by his record.
How many times did Elmo play central midfield last season, or any ****ing season for that matter! Diame always injured and is likely to leave when fit, as already indicated. Meyler is at best equal to Quinn. Smartarse my arse!
He said midfielder, not central midfielder and by the way half the so called footie transfer links have Quinn down as a winger. So because a player is injured, his career is over then? Silly ****.
Elmo isn't a midfielder. Full Stop. No, they mostly have Quinn listed as a midfielder - the position he played for us. Get Reading are set to announce the signing of Ex Hull City Midfielder Stephen Quinn - Just WTF. His career isn't necessarily over when he's injured, but it will probably be over for us when he leaves, as Bruce has already indicated is very likely to happen once he's fit. Thick ****.
My flat mate is a big Brentford supporter he says Gray is good enough for the top league, he's more of fast run at goal striker, would be a great signing but I'd still like to see a big lump up front
It's June. Most teams don't make their moves until July/August. If we had already signed 8 players by now, some would be worried in August that we hadn't done enough business, simply because we had finished our spending and everybody else would be out buying players. It doesn't matter when we sign these players really, as long as we have them in before the first game against Huddersfield. You can't really say much for pre season; as handy as it is to have everybody together, we've signed plenty of players in January who haven't had a pre season to settle in and have gone on to do well (Long and Jelavic spring to mind).
Summary: We have now had 82 pages of utter tosh and drivel. We haven't sold anyone, we haven't signed anyone. Some of our released players may or may not have found clubs elsewhere. Hope this is helpful to those who can't be bothered to read all of this thread?
I feel like half the posts in this thread have been similar to what you've posted, so thanks for adding further to the length.
Andre Gray would be a good signing. So would Craig Gardner. At least we're being linked with decent players.
A good hindsight post, but Geo10 posted about what we knew at the start of the season. Ramirez and others never found fame or form under Bruce, some because of form, others down to tactics. Bruce can buy who he likes, but it won't take too long for his ****e tactics to make them poor.
Yet again we seem to have confusion over what a wing- back is, a defender or a midfielder. Elmo is not a defender and he is not an attacker, I'll leave the rest to you. Is one of you, Steve Bruce, by any chance?
It does help to bring in players as early as possible, helps them settle in the area, get to know the players & staff, more work together in training etc can only be a good thing.
Meyler is definitely as good as Quinn, he offers a lot more both going forward and n defence, problem is he's just nowhere near as consistent. Quinn keeps the ball nicely and that's it. Meyler at least gets forward, gets in the box, has a go at goal and wins plenty of challenges at the back, as well as winning a load of free kicks and roughing up the enemy. He just has his bad days now and then.
One thing you can't knock Bruce for is the calibre of players he wants and gets in. Problem is, he buys a load willy nilly, with no thought on how to use them, plays them all over the place in unfamiliar positions, gives them tasks that don't suit their style and wonders why they all look ****.
