Steve Bruce rescued Quinn from the mediocrity of Division 1. He also rehabilitated Paul Mcshane after the way he was shabbilly treated by Pearson and Barmby. And turned him from a figure of ridicule into a popular be it severely limited footballer.

As Smartarse said they both blathered about staying as a PL player where have they ended up?

We rescued him from Sheffield United, made him into a Premier League player, not to mention a millionaire.
Quinn has come a long way from his days playing for the Blades.

Sheffield United made him a Premier League player and we got him on the cheap when they got relegated and could no longer afford his wages, he then played a large part in getting us into the Premier League.

I don't think losing him is the end of the world, but let's not try and rewrite history.

We may have got him cheap but if we did why didnt anyone else come in for him? They could have bid for him.
They didnt, we gave him the showcase.

Quinn was a Premier League player with Sheff U - he showed loyalty by staying when they were relegated - Brucie dropped him in favour of Ramirez which was another Brucie **** up - at least Brucie rescued his son playing for the likes of Tranmere Oldham and Huddersfield even though he kept getting sent back early because he was ****e - still waiting for the remotest offer to take him away - even Forest Green haven't made an enquiry

They turned down an offer from Blackpool in the hope that they could hold on to him for a season and come straight back up.

Stephen Quinn got a better offer and took it. If he was that bad a player then what was Bruce doing offering him a contract?

They lost in the play off final after Ched's misdeeds. His talents were on show and no one out bid us and we bid **** all.

Are you pissed??? Ramirez is far far better I carnt believe you would put that If you was sober. At the start of the season I'm certain 99% of this board would have picked a team without Quinn and even Meyler in it. We'd signed some very good midfielders, it was only due to the fact Huddlestone and his mate were ****e, ben arfa didn't fancy it that Quinn got in. Had this not happened Quinn wouldn't have got a look in, he couldn't lace Ramirez boots FACT!!

Some right bollocks posted on here about Quinn, I'd end up doing a Tickler-esque multi-quote if I tried to respond to it all.

He was easily in our top three players in the promotion season, yet he's an average Championship player?

Ramirez may well be a better player technically than Quinn, but he certainly never showed it for us. Quinn didn't get a look in until the end of the season, despite everyone who played ahead of him looking like a bag of ****e. When he did play, he looked better than them all.

He got more assists than Huddlestone, Ramirez, Ben Arfa, Meyler, Diame or Livemore. That is to say, he got more assists than any of our other midfielders, despite playing a fraction of the games that some of them did. Only Diame scored more goals from midfield as well.

We don't have a single midfielder who I would take over Quinn in the Championship. Anyway, for his three years and almost 100 appearances for Hull City I thank Quinniesta. Bruce couldn't replace him with cash to burn, Premier League and European football last season, and I suspect he won't in the second tier with significantly less money either.

That would be a decent start. But we'd still need another 2-3. I want to be entertained this season and I want to see us smash goals in home and away. If we can sell the other 3 for a combined £16m I would use most of that on strikers. Something like Gray, ALF and Rhodes or Hooper. With maybe an older striker for one season to share his experience. A lot of games in the Championship - 4 quality strikers at this level would give me confidence the club mean business.

    That's a great post.

Quinn will be a massive loss, easily one of our best players in the PL. He deserved better treatment from the club and they should not have allowed his contract situation to arise. Poor management IMHO and to get a midfielder as good as Quinn will cost - a lot. We didn't manage it in the PL with multiple attempts.

Why do you think he isn't a massive loss? Who in midfield did a better job last season?

    I'm waiting.

He was the player's player of the year last time we were in the Championship, why would losing our best player last time we were in the championship not be a massive loss?

Players vote on a different basis. Elmo was the star of our promotion season.
