Whilst I will be the first to say the negative effects of cannabis are sometimes overstated or overblown, there is no saying how much smarter you would be or what you would have achieved if you hadn't spent the last 30 years smoking weed. We all know you are a bit of a thicko on here, you may have been smart and opted to support Everton if you hadn't smoked weed
Obviously it's all about how much you smoke you dope I've worked in IT a long time, learned programming languages on my own time. I couldn't do that job if I was forgetful and made mistakes. I will say this, when studying Java programming, I had on occasion hit a problem with my code, and been stuck for 4 to 5 hours thinking about the problem with no joy.. smoke a doob and boom, the answer comes to me It's such a complicated thing the mind and how it all works. Weed can be a creative force because you think differntly than you otherwise might. There were times when I smoked a lot and times, like now where I may have a doob when the kids go to bed, 2 or 3 times a week, it depends. I can state for a fact that there are three main differences I have noticed over the years between occasional use and heavy smokage over time. Short term recollection Train of thought Articulation. No one should smoke every day just as any other substance, no coke every day or alcohol meth or anything else. I don't get paranoid in general, I have once or twice over the years when I smoked some mondo strong **** compared to what I was used to, I don't like being a zombie, just a bit high. As for paranoid schizophrenia and all other schizophrenia sub-types are. No one really knows what actually causes it. It is a life long illness and stopping smoking weed wont fix it because it doesn't actually cause the symptoms. Research suggests that most forms of schizophrenia are caused by brain dysfunction; we just don't know why that brain dysfunction happens. Most probably, it is caused by a combination of genetics and environmental triggers. And if I am stupid, god bless most of the rest of you, I am impressed you can tie your shoe laces
Well in summary I'd re-iterate that I wouldn't ban alcohol or cannibas - we have freedom of choice in our society. I do, however, believe the prevelance of psychotic conditions and/or depression, and the over-prescription of anti-depressants a-la- previous prescriptions to anti-biotics in previous decades has brought us to a point were people are evermore becoming reliant on chronic drug and substance use just to feel 'normal'. There will be a price to pay. it's a chicken and egg argument about cause and effect - does drug use cause psychosis, or does psychosis lead to to drug dependency? A bit of both? My original point was that if you take a damaged head case like Roof (however he became damaged in the first place), allow them access to mood changing chemical and alcohol, address that with mind-altering drugs such as anti-depressents, and then throw freely-available firearms like a handgun for your ****ing 21st birthday (those parents should be executed too, in my opinion) then you have all the ingredients of an all too familiar 21st century tragedy. And all those ingredients exist in our society too, bar the handguns.
Its odd you say that about programming et all. I have two HUGELY cannabis dependant friends. One is a web designer (deals with the code, not the flashy graphical ****) and the other works as a network support technician for EA. Must be something to do with the profession.
I might keep that last bit of the sentence as my signature. Has anyone claimed the weed caused Roof to do any of the things he did or has caused his mental health to deteriorate to such a level? What I did do was to guess that given the MO of the shooting Roof was likely to be having an acute episode of a long standing problem. It seems upto now that I was wrong with that guess although more may come out as the case develops. I also said that from what I had seen he was more likely than not to be a cannabis user and that this would not have helped if as i (wrongly) suspected he was suffering from schizophrenia or bipolar.
**** Off, the Ozzies dont have the issue anymore because they have a ban on guns...... See the post above
So much for weed, Roof was scarping down legal prescription meds like Xanax which do far more damage, and Suboxone a narcotix related to sudden outbursts of aggression, which puts any ludicrous blaming of weed into stupid context it belongs in. Side effects of Xanax which was only 1 type of pill he was popping. depressed mood, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself, unusual risk-taking behavior, decreased inhibitions, no fear of danger; confusion, hyperactivity, agitation, hostility, hallucinations; feeling like you might pass out; urinating less than usual or not at all; chest pain, pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest; uncontrolled muscle movements, tremor, seizure (convulsions); or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes). Throw in 6 different schools a father never around who had kids with three different women and was violent, some rracist ideology from South Carolina and guns and there you have it. Nothing to do with weed whatsoever
exactly, thats why if you read the whole sentence I said how many people have died of weed overdose = 0. I have smoked too much a few times, all that happened is I turned green and threw up every where. Only lasts about a half hour
According to that recent edition of horizon, red wine has NO positive overall positive effect on well-being.
I have FSHD Muscular Dystrophy, and it indeed helped. While I no longer smoke it, my dad (who also had it) smoked it a lot, and it helped him a great deal in later life.
I don't drink it but was informed that resveratrol, a compound found in red wine, has health benefits and has potential as a therapy for diabetes, Alzheimer's and heart disease. As with most of these medical studies, what one finds as beneficial, another will find has no benefits ! One thing's for sure though, too much is bad for you.
Resveratrol is an antioxidant, good in small measures, not so good in large measures [antioxidants in general].
Think he means me. i did no such thing - I said he had chronic drug dependency issues, including cannibas. Chronic use of/dependency on cannibas has proven medical connotations of paranoia, depression and various other mental health issues. I also stated that I smoked myself (very occasionally) up till about twenty years ago, and that i wasn't advocating banning it (or alcohol). Really don't know how anyone can try defend chronic drug and/or alcohol use as having no effect upon health in general, and mental health in particular. Especially when combined to prolonged use with anti-depressants and illegal drugs as well. I'm reminded that 300 years ago they use to perscribe tobacco for respiration disorders, and this time last century people used to bathe in radium and use it as a skin cream. Sure many of them swore it was a s good as vitamins too.
