Even taking all this into account, how much credit can Blackpool take for his development, when his formative years were at Liverpool? Surely they made the biggest contribution to his development? Blackpool just gave him playing time and got a player on the cheap.
It seems that Blackpool are basing their valuation on the amount that they rejected from Cardiff. They are arguing that they bought him at £500k from Livepool and rejected £8m so he has developed by £7.5m. Hopefully, the rulebook works as previously noted. Then Liverpool have 35% sell on clause.
The only independent benchmark is Sturridge's move from Chelsea to Liverpool; another England U21 International with limited Premier League experience, tribunal set fee at £3.5m! Based on that and with Blackpool supposedly having already received a loan fee from Palace of £1.5m can't see it being above £3.5m, and potentially less.

That'd be totally pointless, we'd pay £2m for a player we wouldn't get for another year. Even then Sheffield United are playing in League 1, we'd need him getting experience at a higher level. Had they been promoted this season, I could've seen it, but I think if we were to buy him we'd hang on to him for the European games.

He said he got back to full fitness last season and featured in two or three friendlies. So hopefully after a full pre season he should be ready to go.

I would guess it wouldnt. From all the talk in the articles about him being a future star I think the club is trying to get a really good future player in young as opposed to shelling out lots of cash later for an equally good player. Its just my guess though.
I believe we are after him, assuming that the price doesn't get daft, though it looks like Everton might be in for him now.
