Well I'm pretty sure that Guly's contrsct is up in the summer and I'd say its unlikely to be renewed, so I'm sure all the ******s who boo Guly would love us to sign a young Guly.

Mail reporting man city will pay 30 million for Shaw, I know there's articles about Shaw everyday bit that's the highest fee touted I've seen, would anyone take it?

No.

From what I've seen of teenage Shaw and teenage Bale, I think Shaw has the potential to be every bit as good as Bale. If we had Bale, would I sell him for £30M? Definitely not. The same applies to Shaw.

Moreover, we don't need the money. If we need to strengthen the squad, we will. Selling Shaw for £30M won't have a missive impact on that.

Shaw isn't as flash as Bale. He's got it in him to be a better left back than Bale or Bridge no doubt but Bale was womping goals in from range right from the start.

I don't think Shaw will follow the same path.

£30m? if we have no budget for next summer it might be beneficial to take the money if we can get a left back cost effectively. If we already have our budget for the summer it's unlikely to substantially improve our business.

we don't want to add too many players at once and if we sell shaw we're already forced to add one.

Would not sell Shaw for 30 million now. But if they offered it during the summer transfer window where we have time to find a suitable replacement it would be a much tougher decision. I think I would probably take it.

I wouldn't say that. Shaw is fantastic but I don't think he'll get anywhere near Bale. £30m would be hard to turn down considering the quality players we could probably attract with that kind of money.

The only time I would sell Shaw or any of our players if they really wanted to go and only if the club who wanted him paid through the nose.

He might stay with us for his entire playing career even if he turns into a world class left back. If we want to challenge for the premiership you just don't sell you best players full stop. Our youngsters have a great relationship of already knowing each others for many years, even if a few of them make it as top class internationals. You can't always buy this with money!

I ust dont think you can turn down that sort of money. Look at Oxo he's been injured more than he's played.

Oxo wanted to go. If Shaw wanted to go to City (You wouldn't blame him too much with huge wages & virtually guaranteed champions league) then get as much as you can, but the clubs default position should be not to sell. A lot harder to move forward as a club by selling your best players

Speaking of Saints leftbacks, I met Mark Dennis yesterday, what a Top Bloke, had a chat with him and didnt hang it out too long as I didnt want to appear to be a stalker, Before he left he come looking for me and shook my hand
The Original Psycho, wonder how much he would be worth in todays terms

Shaw continues to improve defensively, but offensively, he's not really been much of a threat.

Only beat his man once yesterday and his crossing was awful.

If that bid is real, then the transfer could well happen, maybe not now, but definitely in the summer at that price.

That article mentioned City are struggling with the 8 man home grown quota

No. Position Player
1 England GK Joe Hart
2 England DF Micah Richards

4 Belgium DF Vincent Kompany (captain)
5 Argentina DF Pablo Zabaleta
6 England DF Joleon Lescott
7 England MF James Milner

8 France MF Samir Nasri
9 Spain FW Álvaro Negredo
10 Bosnia and Herzegovina FW Edin Džeko
13 Serbia DF Aleksandar Kolarov
14 Spain MF Javi García
15 Spain MF Jesús Navas
16 Argentina FW Sergio Agüero
17 England MF Jack Rodwell
21 Spain MF David Silva
22 France DF Gaël Clichy
25 Brazil MF Fernandinho
26 Argentina DF Martín Demichelis
29 England GK Richard Wright
30 Romania GK Costel Pantilimon
33 Serbia DF Matija Nastasić
35 Montenegro FW Stevan Jovetić
38 Belgium DF Dedryck Boyata
42 Ivory Coast MF Yaya Touré (vice-captain)
60 Sweden FW John Guidetti

I'm counting 9 in that squad of 25 who qualify and apart from Joe Hart, Gael Clichy & James Milner the rest are on the fringes. If City are going to improve then they're going have to buy in the domestic market.

Bloody hell he's only 18!!! He has the potential to be a great player in 5 to 10 years!

Yes he could fail to improve or spend most of his time injured but that's the risk you take with every player!

What a player he was. Scared me just watching!

how much more money do we expect to get in two or three years if he gets there unscathed? By then, if he's lived up to the 30m 18yo tag then he won't stick around except in the possible but unlikely event that we are in the champions league.

I think he's pretty fully valued right now if the £30m is genuine. It's comparable to a fully fledged world class player. It's arguably giving us a premium for both potential and likely longevity.

this is ignoring inflation as hopefully we'd fully invest any proceeds and would enjoy the same inflationary benefit.
