I suppose I should report that I saw Gravity earlier this evening. What a delightful walk in the park that was. Visually, I think it's fair to say that it is probably the most awesome [hate that world, but justified here for people to get the message] film I've ever seen. What the film-maker has undertaken to do has been totally realised. It's that good that I forgive it its scientific and physical inaccuracies and there are several, but they don't detract. It's close enough, and if the film stuck strictly to scientific reality there would either be no story, or we'd have to inhabit the cinema for a week or two for it to play out. In 90 minutes, it does an excellent job. For those, like me, who have never been convinced by 3D, this one works, and brilliantly so. With so much depth of field, if couldn't really fail. Sit near the centre, nearer the back, don't buy a premier seat, it's uncomfortable as you can't put your head back [the headrest is set too forward], save money and wish it was longer. Best value film I've seen at the cinema in years. Oh, the IMAX sound is needlessly loud, so some foam defenders or tissue in the pocket may not go amiss, perhaps. And the story is fairly straightforward and simple. That's OK, it's a tale of survival or not, and character tends to reveal itself rather than juicy dialogue, in those circumstances. Thoroughly recommended.
I think I may find an excuse to go again.
For those who saw it before me. You were right.
