    Fair enough guys.

I love music, and am totally open to anything, even if, no, especially if, it's out of my 'comfort zone'

I'll give it all a good listen. <ok>

I love the Flaming Lips, but only discovered this cover of Elton John's Rocket Man yesterday. I love a cover that adds a completely new angle to the orignal.

Don't know if any of you caught it, but BBC4 on the Friday night (8th March I think) a documentary on Mott The Hoople - fantastic entertainment and a great band. Highly underestimated IMO

Great band Mott the Hoople - Sea Diver, One of the Boys, Whizz Kid - all great tracks. Saw them as Mott at Cambridge Corn Exchange may years ago (after Ian Hunter and Mick Ralphs had left) and they were still great.

Talking of great new rock albums - check out the newies from Vega and Clutch.

    Me too! <ok>

Still considering Welly's contribution. I'll try again when I've had a few and Mrs G is out so I can have it full volume! <laugh>

Here is one that might unite the Dance fans and Jazz fans?

If you produce stuff on Logic Pro using countless bits of kit, which you have to effectively double up as a sound engineer it's not easy only then you'll realise how difficult is to produce electronic music, as we don't have the luxury of walking into a studio with a back up producer and a team of engineers. A lot of the stuff you hear in the charts is basic paint by numbers crap like all that Swedish House Mafia and Avicci rubbish it sounds like it's been made using Dance Ejay or fruity loops circa 2001 but given the studio treatment and using singers hired by studios on big bucks, not people who do it for the love of the music which is shame but at the same time I understand people need to make a living I'd just prefer it if they cared a lot more.

I try to make house music which sounds like this it's not easy but I learn a load of new stuff almost every day.

Mr Scruff and Ninja Tunes used to play a massive part a quite a decent festival called the Big Chill they used to have some really cool cosmic spacey style disco on there by DJ's like Todd Terje.

Saw Mr Scruff at Warwick Uni; it probably isn't the dream venue but he was fantastic and won a lot of fans there. Something about the humour, tempo and rhythm appealed to people no matter what music they liked- indie; drum & bass; house; pop; punk.

Love the track btw northampton. Wouldn't normally listen to house music unless its a remix of a song I already like, but like Gandy said earlier in the thread, its good to listen to something out of ur comfort zone.

So much better than Bowie's cover, and that's saying something...

Nice one takes a lot to connect a crowd of people and I like to hear stories of that happening. Dance music has the tendency to become tribalistic when to start with it was always very unified the crowd was there for the music and the party, it got to a stage where everyone followed a sub genre and it became arrogant, people would listen to a series of beeps and clicks with a bassline just because that sound was played by certain DJ's and was played in certain clubs in Berlin they were elite, fortunately those boundaries have diminished the sound has evolved it has a lot more soul and people tend to take themselves less seriously and have fun, less people are intimidated by dance music then back in the mid 2000's when it was having a massive identity crisis so the clubs are picking up.

Thanks mate there are plenty of great DJs/producers from the UK at the moment.

Simply for the song title and the lyrics (3m15)...

This is a time for believing
    In fairy tales,
One in which you are brought to me.
    Wolf, I cried wolf.
    Wolf, I cried wolf.
    Wolf, I cried wolf.

True Welly, though Bowie's version wasn't exactly a cover, was it?

How about this for the (all six fingers crossed) new boy?:

    Needs more bass!

But nevertheless, if it happens, I could easily imagine it being banged out by the Barclay next season! <ok>
