Full wet tyres exist in order to disperse lots of water on the track, in order to get more grip - with each tyre dispersing up to 60 litres of water per second. Now ask where all that water goes; and remember it can be as much as 240 litres per second per car!* Visibility is by far the biggest problem; and it is usually this which necessitates the Safety Car … *N.B. This is far, far worse than driving in rain on a motorway - where of course, one should expect deliberately extended spacing between vehicles, and speeds often well below 70mph. Furthermore: on the public road, this dispersed water is not being deliberately thrown upwards in plumes by aerodynamics specifically designed to do exactly that!
What stops the start motor "recoiling" when its used? Is there a slot to stop the motor itself spinning, is there a internal stepper gears, does the engine easily spin up or is the guy just that strong?
Exactly, they always charge in so quick you never get to really see what they do, especially now cars rarely stall.
If two drivers ended up leading the championship at the end of the season with the same amount of points, the same amount of victories, the same amount of 2nd places, the same amount of pole positions and the same amount of second grid placings, who ends up winning the championship?
Nah, would probably be the defending world champion who would win by default in that kind of situation. Then it would be down to pole positions, then fastest laps, gap ratio to qualifying times and then finally something else pointless to pick a winner.
They'll point out the first pointless thing that favours a Ferrari driver and baddabing baddaboom, he wins.
Close call if it's a tie between Alonso and Hamilton with the amount of Massa's paint that's usually on the side of his car........
Pirelli takes the nominated two compounds plus sufficient wets and intermediates to every race, right? Do they bother taking wet weather tyres to Bahrain, just on the off-chance that it might rain?
If for whatever reason Button and Alonso suddenly moved to HRT next year long term, how long would it take for HRT to get their first points scoring finish?
