As someone who is good friends with an agent and having signed plenty of players in another sport Money is pretty much the only factor in about 90% of the cases. You get the odd player who wants to join up with an old gaffer or desperate for first team football but the vast majority will go where the money is. They have a short earning window and if someone is offering them £2000 a week more they will go almost certainly. I dont blame them either. They might say the right things on arrival but they dont really care about the club or its fans. Once they are gone they are forgotten. Tom Eaves was great with my kids outside the stadium but I bet he hardly gives us a second thought now.
I am sure Lewie Coyle would take a pay cut to stay with City but I reckon there isnt another player in the squad who would even consider it if the same money was on the table elsewhere.
Was he guaranteed to start every game when coming in though, that’s where the coach side comes in for me anyway
Sure, that's somewhat my point. Jim and Chazz are trying to claim it was us offering more money. Which it's strange we did last season but aren't this season and are thus missing out on all our striker targets.
People aren't denying it happen as it did, but we paid very ****ing handsomely for those deals etc hence why ffp was such an issue. We've been much more realistic with fee's and wages etc this summer and yes we've missed out on targets ( as every club does ). But we signed how many over the summer....? Or "Are some people denying that that happened? I really don't understand what the angle is".

So you're saying the difference is that we didn't pay up this summer? Not sure about that. From the Cannon thing it sounds like we actually had decent money still left to spend but couldn't get a deal done to spend it on.

We would be paying a lot of the wages on those players if not all of them. In the case of the Liverpool lads that was a lot of money, especially Fabio.
I'd take him in a flash (or as some say, "the club should be all over this").
Would add experience & quality to our CM and also provide cover in defense if needed. Would immediately answer what I think is the biggest 'failing' of this transfer window (as per earlier post over the weekend). Then just a quality free agent striker and we'd be sorted nicely for now.
Interesting the article says one option is to cancel his contract. If that happened, presumably he could then be signed as a free agent?
Not if he was contracted during the window. He could potentially go abroad.
Really can't understand from your posts what you think is the reason we couldn't attract players this window like we could in the previous two.
You seem to be very passionate that it isn't anything to do with the change of manager but unclear on what it is down to.

We did not even see half of these playing for us. Let's wait a bit. Sinik had potential too, now he is doing phD in muscle injuries.
Football is not a lifetime job, especially at lower levels most players reach only 3-4 years rich contracts. So obiously money is the biggest decider without a doubt.
I was a fan of Rosenior despite the noise. I’m not saying if it was right or wrong yet as it’s 4 games in and there’s growing pains but it’s getting there even if it is glacial.
Tim started out slow at Hamburg as well to be fair. He won his first game but drew 6 out of the next 10 losing another.
