It's a great shame when someone who had a close affinity with the club like Rosey had, doesn't make it.

Stoke at home did it for me, I found the match day programme more entertaining mid way through the first half!

No one can argue that it was the correct decision really, from a footballing standpoint it made no sense.

    However

Acun bought into a narrative that a lot of home fans shared. That we were slow and boring to watch. He is trying to move us away from playing a style of football that everyone is trying to do. Pep ball, have complete control of the game and hope your players can produce some magic in the final third. Form a new identity different from what a lot are doing, whether that pays off is still up in the air, but the game needs some differentiation now. Without the endless pits of money Man City have, I think that style will always fall short, especially at our level.

    At the upmost peak
Peps system def is the best system
    You control almost every aspect
    But
    And its a big but

Hes been able to go and spend £50m+ for every position he feels needs an upgrade

99.99% of teams cant do that

There is only 1 pep for a reason.

Arteta is building a defensive powerhouse transition side

Klopp beat him by creating a chaotic fast paced team who could grind you out.

Pep is alone, everyone is trying to be him. But ultimately without the budget you’ll not come close.

    From my understanding
Walter is very demanding in training
And he requires players to be immensely fit
Possibly the most they have been

    But players are only human
And when results are not coming, players do question methods
    Not saying they are yet

But we need to reap some rewards and soon

Players either run through brick walls for him or they dislike him

    Disagree.

Many can and do argue it was the correct decision from a footballing standpoint! Including me. I was bored and frustrated to death most of the time. It's then a different matter as to whether Walter is the right replacement; only TWT.

And I don't think Acun "bought into a narrative that a lot of home fans shared". He said from the very off, the moment he bought us, what type of football he wanted us to play; no, not setting the tactics, but simply spelling out that he wanted the football to be exciting, to get fans off their seats, etc etc. Rosenior promised that, but it never materialised. After quickly sorting out the defence and establishing his style, he clearly said that the summer pre-season and that transfer window would see him address the attacking side of things and we would have pace, power, excitement, etc. Imo, it just didn't happen. He seemed clueless in terms of coaching effective attacking play and we continued to pass endlessly around the back, retained possession above all else, turned attack into defence in a flash, etc.

Not meaning to re-open the Rosenior debate for the hundreth time, but couldn't let those 2 statements go.

Footballing standpoint we’d just had a very good season. Entertainment wise it’s up for debate, I think most share your sentiment.

Acun shared that notion, but he should’ve waited for the “boring” football to become less effective first, either way it’s done now and Walter deserves time.

It's become a weird debate this.

We clearly do have a problem attracting players. During Acun's time we've consistently gone for ambitious targets but been turned down by them. Last season that changed, we got some big signings and some massive loans. Other clubs' fans were incredulously asking "how have Hull got him?" on multiple occasions.

Are some people denying that that happened? I really don't understand what the angle is.

It did happen. But it happened largely in away games, our home form became a bugbear that Liam struggled to address until the last couple of games of the season. That's why Newcastle Tiger quoted "a narrative that a lot of home fans shared", I would assume. Regular attendees at away games saw the excitement that Rosenior could and did deliver.

Like you, I don't want to reopen the debate about Liam but couldn't let your partial analysis of our 2023/24 season go.

Our season derailed in january in more than one way
We essentially lost delap, philo and seri for a key part of the season
    All 3 influential

And bedding in multiple new players is always difficult
Im sure on fifa we had a great squad on ratings
But the players had to get use to playing together
    While also ****ing us financially

Ah well its in the past
Hopefully we learn and give tim time

The owner said he would be bringing in a player that would make the Championship teams sit up and realise he was serious about trying for the play offs. Can someone tell me which of the 15 new players he was talking about? Talk is cheap!

I think Hughes, Zambrano, Puerta, and Belloumi have that potential.

Belloumi has seemingly gone under the radar, he looks a serious talent. We’ve seen it all before but there were a lot of footballing people clamouring for their teams to sign him. Think we’ve done well to get him

Another thing, the £50million plus dragged in from KLP, Greaves, Philogene and others, how much of that has been put back into the club so far? I realise payments are made over several years of course.
