He was advised not to (Harte presumably had some positive chats with Ipswich though I’m guessing on that part and Jack wasn’t told that was the case), he was told to let the window play out and that it could still be signed at the start of September. It was a last minute decision. Heads of terms had been signed and everything, contract wise, properly drawn up by the lawyers or whoever does that side of things.

I’ve said more than I’m comfortable doing but as I say, I’ll always call out misleading info when it has the potential to cause mischief amongst the fanbase.

Absolutely not misleading anyone. I was told he wouldn't sign a new deal and wouldn't be here past this window.

He didn't sign a new deal and isn't here past the window. That's the literal reality.

There was all sorts of info floating that he may sign a new deal but I was told it wouldn't happen and he would move on. He has.

And to be clear. Harte works for Clarke. Not the other way round. If any deal was signed, it could have been a while ago. It wasn't.

Anyway. Both said or bits. Let's hope we invest the money wisely.

Anyway you want to dress it up £15m for Clarke is bad business and we should have been looking for double that given other transfers from the championship given that a good proportion of that will go to spurs.

we need new owners.
I get people feeling we should have got more, I'm one of them, however wanting £30m is just unrealistic. We were never going to get that

This would also mean if fees become anymore outrageous, we will be laughing in terms of extra income.

As long as the club is 'sustainable' that'll do me. The only penalties I ever want to hear about are when Mayenda's brought down ... not anything to do with financial irregularities, sanctions and transfer embargos.

'Sustainability' has become a dirty word for some people despite unsustainability being the only alternative.

It's madness after a period when we were staring down a £200m debt and administration.

Also another thing. I don’t think the club will see Mundle as the replacement, we won’t put that pressure on him. There was a reason we were speaking to Liam Millar before he went to Hull.

I expect to see a move for a winger

I thought realistically that we should have had £20m plus addons, but it looks like we’re getting around £20m in total. As others have pointed out, at least we can strengthen now as opposed to panic buying just before the window closes.

So it could have been better, but also could have been far worse. If we end up with the strikers mentioned, then it’s a good window as far as I’m concerned. As good as JC was, we’re not as dependent on him as we were and we can replace him.

I think we'll loan one in. Jaidon Anthony and Samuel Edozie are good options for me.

I disagree

we payed a decent fee for him and he is getting better. He’ll get first choice and we’ll sign someone to be around him. Unless someone drastic appears on the market. I could see a LW loan

Reactions: Southern A
Its not being run badly tho is it

We have sold a very good player, for one of the highest transfer fees weve ever received

I think its the highest profit weve ever made on a player that weve signed (im sure if im wrong someone will be quick to correct me)

Clarke is 1 very good player but if we use the money to sign 3/4 players who are just the level below him itll improve the squad

Some people really don't know how football.works

I work for a team that sold their 2 best players last season, we used the money to improve our squad, some of it to sign our exciting young players to better deals n then we went n improve from the season before

Clarke is replaceable n i think getting 20 million plus having a sell on clause is good business
100% agree with this mate, its done we always knew that was the model, thanks for the memories Jack, been a model professional, lets reinvest and develop more players and sell them on, cant believe what people are in a flat spin over.

il take the advice and **** off now.

As I've said, I looked back to try to find who said that to you and can't find anything.

I think I've been polite but you're making quite an accusation about people on this board so it would be good for you to say.

You haven't been on here for well over a year, arrive with a rant today and are clearly here for an argument.

Some cynics might think you've popped over from another forum just to stir things up on here ...

... if that's true it makes you a very shallow and needy person.

In which case that's a shame for you.

Refusing to let ambitious young players leave won't attract ambitious young players ...

... this club is being brilliantly run compared to many others.

Why were we looking at Millar then? Why did RLB mention looking at replacements etc
