Past glories? Trippier is player in his thirties who's only scored around 10 goals in his entire career, has only won one medal iirc and was once banned for two months for betting fraud ... ... he's not half the player he's made out to be imo.
He's been good for England over the years (scored in a WC semi final) and was excellent for the Saudis for 18 months
Palmer is going to have a superb international career, someone with his ability and the balls to go with it always will do.
If we can all see how slow Kane has been all tournament imagine the delight of the Spanish defence to see he's starting. He's offered nothing sadly. Slowed play down and was never in the box when wide men pulled a ball back. I hope he retires now from international football as top scorer. Happy we equalised as was worried we'd lose 1-0 on a wimper. Celebrated with my lad which was nice. Still believe both of their goals were avoidable, especially the first. Lost to the better team. Don't feel robbed like I'm used to.
The problem is Southgate doesn’t have the tactical capability to play to his strengths. Kyle Walker has man marked both Mbappe and Vini Jr out of the game previously so why play 3 at the back with 2 holding midfielders? It’s **** negative football that’s why none of the world’s best teams play with wing backs. It’s underdog football.
How good was Stones tonight btw. Unfortunately Spains centre backs equalled it, but Stones was brilliant.
I'm pretty sure that will be Southgate's last match as manager, whether he jumps or is pushed that will be it. No idea who specifically but we need someone who will take advantage of the attacking talent we have and won't play it safe at every opportunity.
BBC: "In the 181 minutes he played across both the Euro 2020 and 2024 finals ... ... England captain Harry Kane had just one shot, one touch in the opposition box and had just 58 touches of the ball."
Sorry. If anyone thinks Kane should have started, is blind. . Look at how we have played man. Pure ass. Slow.
I agree he isn't the player he was, 33, been playing in a less intense leauge. Didn't seem with it for large part of the tournament. Yet, scored 44 goals last seaon. England are an enigma like.
I blame Lidl. Th i knew he would start, but didn’t want him to!! It was obvious what Southgate would do! And, as a fan, I could see it, as a former kids coach, I could see it (with FA badges). But more importantly, the entire population could have told you that. My wife, who hates football and has only watched the euros in sufferance, even couldn’t work out why he was playing after the previous games and his lack of impact! Think we’d have won that with a manager with any balls!
