I agree, fair to question taking Newcastles 4th best English full back and playing him out of position though.I don't think the fitness and form of Ben Chilwell was the reason why England lost

Yeah I think Bellingham’s physical strength a bit deeper would have been better against that pressure but Mainoo has done so well it would have been a hard call before the game. Maybe it was a half time call. Palmer, Saka and Foden feel like a real threat but none have Bellingham’s physicality and I think we needed that.Yeah mainoo was poor but what a talent he is, got everything to be an elite CM
Kane was a problem for England in this comp, if hes starting he needs wingers thatll run beyond a defence. He cant have the likes of foden n Bellingham in behind him. I thought bellingham was poor after the 1st game
Theres zero balance to this England team, thats why they havent put a performance in for a full match. England are a real sticky team undef Southgate, hes made them hard to beat but theres no patterns of play when they have the ball and hes loyal to a fault at times
Still a young team tho so likely to be one of the faves for the world cup
Yes I would agree with that. Trading on past glories.I agree, fair to question taking Newcastles 4th best English full back and playing him out of position though.
It's a really easy game from the comfort of your armchair.
Stones had lost him because they all moved over when Shaw was caught out. Easy to say in hindsight that Walker should have stayed with Williams, but if he had done that, the pass would have been made to the central player who would have had an even better opportunity to score. Walker did the right thing. Every decent right back in the world would have done the same.
Bellingham was running on fumes in the 2nd half. Southgate needed to be brave enough to hook him. Having said all that, he was capable of amazing moments so it's removing that ability from the pitch that was a risk. I think (like his brother) he is better as a No.8Yeah I think Bellingham’s physical strength a bit deeper would have been better against that pressure but Mainoo has done so well it would have been a hard call before the game. Oh, it's all so black and white isn't it?Apologies, I’ll just drop a message to the moderators and tell them to close the forum then because as fans we aren’t allowed to have an opinion so what’s the point in having a forum![]()
What has Eddy Howe done to deserve to be England coach?sticking with Kane was a mistake, and poor defending for that 2nd goal, should get back to 4-4-2, anyhow Howe should be next manager ! or Ancelloti

L
Maybe not but he was being picked ahead of the No.1 left back in the tournament.
We lost to Gateshead in a friendly, ergo he's ****e and can do one. etcIf Southgate goes I hope the FA aren't looking for a young up-and-coming French coach with a burgeoning Mackem accent. If they do they can do one.![]()
Best side won, can't argue with that.
Frustrating that we sat off them again after getting to 1-1. Wanted to see us keep pressing from the front with Watkins, Palmer and another. We seemed to be getting joy doing that and forcing Spain's keeper to kick it long.
Miles off the quality of Spain so lots of ground to make up. Congratulations to them.
