This exactly, I suspect if the 2 go for £35m'ish there will be a sizable sell on clause and maybe extra if they survive next season. But as you say, important to do a deal early to give time to get in new recruits.
According the the HDM, Middlesborough are in for Giles https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/spo...s/middlesbrough-firm-up-interest-hull-9388808
I understand that there are imaginative ways of helping with this FFP limits. Roman Abramovich apparently bought a season ticket each year for a £1m.
Not sure these imaginative ways work in the long run though, Man City have 115 charges that suggest it doesn’t.
Alarm bells have to start ringing now with Giles apparently now departing if true. Club listing as an option but Baz saying still it’s an obligation. Our only signing supposedly heading out and the club aren’t being transparent despite Acun saying he prefers being open. If we sell our biggest assets to go into this window late and relying on high profile loans again I’ll be really questioning the long term goals of the club.
Any club can bid for any of our players, the club are neither required to make those details public, nor should they (we haven't actually received a bid yet according to Baz). If it's a good offer and the player wants to go, then he will, if it's not or he doesn't want to go, then he won't. This threads going to have plenty of in and outs over the next couple of months.
In a normal window I agree with you but we need something to start moving. The club keep quiet about this sort of stuff and that’s probably the correct thing but are happy to throw under contract players (at the time) under the bus in fans Q&A
If we make noise about signing Giles just to flog him to Boro I will be gobsmacked. Even more so if we let him go for anything less than 5m, he’s signed a 4 year deal ffs.
There's literally no way we have bought an attacking left back who gets loads of assists and fits into the new manager's system for £4m to then sell him a few weeks later during the off season for £2m.
i didn’t agree with that but it is, buying someone for 4m then calling it an option on the clubs media followed with videos and pictures of the player to sell him for half price two weeks later could be the worst deal ever done in football history. if It happens the red flag next to Acun and Tan will be MASSIVE.
