We've scored 3 less than the free flowing high scoring Southampton and Leeds, so think this is a little bit of a myth.

I'd be happiest finishing just outside the play offs, then go for next season with a better squad. However if we do end up positions 3-6, I want us to win!

I'm a little in two minds the more I think about it. When you look at the sides who do best in recent years upon promotion, it's sides who go up through the play offs (generally) and I believe that's because they know how to adapt their style to tougher games, whereas sides like Burnley and Ipswich (potentially) win such a huge percentage of their games that they don't have a 'Plan B' in most cases. In that sense, we might actually be well equipped to go up as we've had to play in a variety of ways in games this year.

I'd be curious to see what PL resources would get us, but a little nervous that Acun would use it as a chance to get high profile Turkish league players in, although hope Rosenior would be able to curb his enthusiasm.

There probably will be some attempt to open us further up to the Turkish market, and would expect to see a Turkish connection in the squad. As long as it isn't scattergun and is justified by ability and end product then I don't see a problem personally.

It could be a means of significantly increasing revenue if we're the Turkish public's Premier league side.

We will be signing players from the Turkish league like we have both summers, and are about to again in Jan almost certainly.

Hopefully it will be more specific and targeted as per this last summer and the coming Jan, as opposed to high volume of 'bulk squad' players as seemed to be the plan (if there was one) that summer under Shota.

But there's certainly a better understanding of the physical demands of English football at the top levels of the club than there was in that first summer window.

Yeah that's fair enough, and do agree in that sense he's a step back from RDZ for a Brighton in that RDZ is a much more attack minded manager, so will be interesting to see where they look if/when RDZ gets poached.

We didn't sign anyone for the first team from Turkey this summer just gone. You qualify with 'justified by ability' but everyone would have said Sinik and Ally were justified because of their national team experience and they've both been largely rubbish.

Claiming we'd get 'significantly' increased revenue just because some extra Turks will tune into our games is also pretty laughable. Wolves didn't get any increased revenues for being the Chinese side - or the Portuguese!

So, where did Lokilo come from exactly?

And you underestimate Acun's ability to promote something in the national consciousness over there.

And again, you seem to have missed the differentiation between the disjointed strategy that first summer of bulk squad signings and the more targeted approach taken since.

Rotterdam. My geography is a little rusty but don't think that's in Turkey. He had a spell there but that's like saying that Seri came from Turkey too.

I'm not underestimating anything, I'm saying there's no spike in revenue that comes with being the most watched team from a country like Turkey. You think that Son's shirt sales to Koreans helped Spurs build their new stadium?

I haven't missed anything, I've pointed out the reason we had a less disjointed summer is the notable lack of Turkish league signings and instead signing reliable options, and so I would hope that continues even if we did make it into the PL.

OK. His parent club was Rotterdam, for whom he scored 0 times for in 7 league appearances...

So for whom exactly did he play for on loan, immediately before signing for us, for whom he got 7 goal contributions in 16 appearances at the end of last season, hence we signed him?

At least you didn't say Doncaster. But you're getting closer, BTW <laugh>

We signed him directly from Super lig,

Might have stopped off to kiss his wife and pick up a spare pair of undies on the way. But he was essentially signed as a result of his performances in Istanbul.

Istanbulspor last held his playing registration and he wouldn't have caught our attention doing nothing in Sparta R's reserves.

We've got another incoming from Turkiye also.
Which makes your generalisations all the more ridiculous.

Maybe even more this Jan, Definitely more in duration

But yes, it is absolutely the case that because they're coming in via Turkiye doesn't mean they're automatically ****, as you're implying.

And Allahyar is Iranian, not Turkish. Played most of his senior football in Ukraine. Has played in Turkiye, but 'that's not the same' ... Lol!

So 14 Super lig appearances for Ali. 1 goal, No assists.

27 Super lig appearances for Seri. 3 goals 2 assists.

It would appear Seri is more a 'Turkish' player in your estimation than Allahyar.

So really, out of the "Turkish" players we've signed:

    Sinik hasn't worked out.

    Tufan has.

    Goodnight.

    <cheers>

I certainly think many take the jobs, and take the view that even if they get sacked, generally they are in for a big pay-out, so financially it is worth it.

Lokilo isn't Turkish either so not really sure what point you're making.

Pelkas, Ally and Sinik were all signed directly from Turkish clubs, as was Tetteh.

    Some have worked, some haven't.

Just like English based players who were signed or given contracts that same summer who also haven't worked out.

And at least Pelkas was only a loan, and we'll get some sort of resale for Ally and Sinik and Oscar as we have for Tetteh at least.

Unlike Woods, Figueredo, Longman, Flemings shiny long term contract etc.

You made the rather ignorant point about hoping Acun doesn't sign any Turkish players.

I pointed out not only your definition, but also logic was flawed in making such an ignorant and generalised statement.

    Own it.

I can't think of a single player we signed from Turkey who worked out, since by your definition Tufan was signed from England not Turkey. Don't think I have to "own" anything.

He'd certainly be the best quality player we've signed from Turkey if we get him so let's see.

I'm personally not sure he's as good as we all think.

According to Wikipedia, in his last two seasons in the SPL he made 55 appearances, scored 5 goals and made 7 assists. Not that great for an attacking player considering they are a dominant team in that division against some absolutely woeful teams and players.

That's pretty much a goal involvement 1 in 5 games in a standard nowhere near top end Championship.

He created alot of space and put balls through for players running into areas who got the assists, clever player would be a good player to bring in, although i would think Rak-Sakyi may still be on his way here.
