He created alot of space and put balls through for players running into areas who got the assists, clever player would be a good player to bring in, although i would think Rak-Sakyi may still be on his way here.

Leicester had the deal agreed for Rak-Sakyi in the summer if he left Palace, only reason he’s not there is because Palace wouldn’t let him go. Not sure if that would still be on or not.

He was coming here on deadline day. Only fell through because Palace couldn’t get the kid from PSG over the line

I can't think of a single player we signed from Turkey who worked out, since by your definition Tufan was signed from England not Turkey. Don't think I have to "own" anything.

Tufan played last for Fenerbahce before signing for us. 7 times after the Watford loan ended months beforehand. So by my definition we signed him from Fenerbahce, because that's where he was playing at the time.

Let's hope we don't sign anyone from Turkiye imminently then.

Obviously not gonna be good enough.

Someone should have told Madrid that before they signed Guler. <laugh>

I'm personally not sure he's as good as we all think.

According to Wikipedia, in his last two seasons in the SPL he made 55 appearances, scored 5 goals and made 7 assists. Not that great for an attacking player considering they are a dominant team in that division against some absolutely woeful teams and players.

That's pretty much a goal involvement 1 in 5 games in a standard nowhere near top end Championship.

So not even he's a good signing from Turkiye..! Woops.

We’ve had a nice blend of recruitment domestically and from abroad. Hit rate from abroad probably slightly worse but that’s usually the case at this level. Hopefully we’ll make amends in January and balance the book a bit so we can really go for it.

Well he scored 30 odd goals and got 50 odd assists in 218 apps in his time there. So he must have been doing something right in his first couple of seasons. Contributed a bit better than 1 in 3 goal involvements across all competitions. And that more or less translates to his European record with them also.

I don't think you know what confirmation bias if you think that's an example.

It's basically signing a player for not a huge fee by championship standards. Him being second top scorer in his first season, joint top scorer in his second season. His current market value is more than we paid, yet he and anyone else who's signed from Turkiye isn't, can't and won't be a success. And jumping on anything that supports that bias.

Putting aside the fact that that's not what confirmation bias is, I was making a tongue in cheek comment in response to someone speculating about the effectiveness of a player we haven't even confirmed we've signed yet. Relax.

"the tendency of people to favour information that confirms or strengthens their beliefs or values and is difficult to dislodge once affirmed" is exactly what it is.

I'll relax when you stop making lazy generalisations based on your own preconceived bias.

Mention of Billy Sharp, in terms of dressing room you won’t get anyone better, in terms of pushing you over the line with goals however, I think he’s way past it. Only managed 2 for the Blunts last season. Also he’s probably wanting one last pay day…
