It’s not Sunderland if it’s “not for the entire percentage of the player”. English clubs have to buy 100% of a players registration.
it’s common, or at least used to be, in Italy, for clubs to Co-own players.
So if you buy 70% of the player, it means that whoever buys that player from you needs to negotiate with both clubs to buy their share of the player.
It allows / allowed bigger clubs to keep ownership of players and either bring them back or cash in on them later.

We certainly haven't offered owt for a % of the player, part ownership allowed in some leagues but not over here.
