TBF our owners are not short of a few quid but are trying to build a sustainable model. If Stokes owners want to shovel money into the club then they will have to find a way to do that within the rules of FFP the same way our owners would have to so in that respect I am trying to view it from a within the rules kind of way. I have no doubt that if Sunderland needed a large injection of cash we would have improvements of shirt sponsors or stadium naming rights etc. (Who fancies THE BLACKROCK STADIUM OF LIGHT) lol

He hasn’t been offered anything but if he had, and that information was known well enough that someone could post it on a message board, then Stoke are breaking rules and would’ve been reported.

The line in that article where it’s talking about PIF having a stake I’m Chelsea, it says “club sources have rejected suggestions of any direct involvement”

That, in itself, should raise massive alarm bells. The fact that it says “direct” indicates there us some involvement!

    these saudi links...

buying two or three players from some clubs adds to their turnover meaning more to spend within the rules, with modern transfer fees being what they are, a couple of even moderate players sold can add 100 million boost to spending power.

    basically, it stinks!!

No different from money laundering really. Can't run one business within the rules so buy another to feed it and make it appear legit.

How many Chelsea players have been sold to pif owned clubs ? And for what fee ?

The situation needs to be monitored, but I don't see a reason to panic about it at the moment

I predicted this would happen. Surely the FA have to look into this.

Those rules haven't been applied for years man. Too easy to get round anyway by talking via third parties, what ifs, speculation etc.

Everyone does it. No-one cares anymore.

Look at what City have done for years, and Chelsea are doing now as well. May as well just do away with FFP at this point, whole thing's a farce.

Just to underwrite what many others have mentioned on this thread and on other forums re Saudi sports washing there is an article on CaughtOffside this afternoon that the Mags are considering making a loan move for Ruben Neves once he completes his move to Al-Hilal.

    Complete pisstske.

Absolutely not surprised this might happen and the football authorities only have themselves to blame.

Saying that it's is really easy to prevent with a slight change to the transfer rules but no doubt nothing will be done about it.

Just stop any players over a certain age from being loaned out if they have been purchased within a set time period by another team. That would prevent Saudi from taking the piss with their sports washing which is blatantly what they are doing, but it won't restrict younger players from genuinely being loaned out for development.

They have 75% stake in 4 Saudi clubs. I mean come on. Any dealings between those clubs and any club in Europe who they own or have an 'indirect' link to, should be banned.

We managed to agree a deal for Borini mind, then it seems found out the little twat didn't want to come!

But that was us, and that was us then. It happens with almost every transfer.

There will always be around it. E.g. with your suggestion Saudi can just buy Neves and give him a £10m signing bonus then immediately sell to Newcastle with no bonus. Voila, Saudi just gave Neves an extra £10m on behalf of Newcastle without the mags having officially paid a penny of it for FFP purposes.

I never said it doesn’t happen.

I said if it was known enough for someone to post it on here then the club wouldn’t sit back and let it be and we’d have heard about it.

He hasn’t been offered a contract at Stoke.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him sign for Stoke. Alex Neil clearly a fan.
