the ****ers at my local station nearly always forgot to come and get me off the train like they were supposed to but the final straw was to get back do a high speed wheelie out of a carriage only to find they had ****ed off home and when no staff are there they turn off the power to the lift <doh>
Had to do 2 flights of stairs , one of which is open to the elements on my backside dragging my chair with me and surprisingly that was the last time i took a train.

No where as bad as your situation but my local station has a guy in the ticket office who is not allowed to sell tickets and they have someone in high viz walking up and down the platform but if you ask for info on the trains he points you to the ticket office who then points you to the big screen which just shows you the info you already know

Sounds like I trained them. There's an old Two Ronnies sketch that I just can't find anywhere that went like this:

Corbett is station platform staff and Barker is a bowler-hatted gent in a suit carrying a briefcase:

Barker to Corbett: Can you tell me the next train to Sevenoaks?

Corbett: Yes, it's the.... Barker slaps him across the face before he can answer.

Barker to a shocked Corbett: Can you tell me which platform it goes from?

Corbett (gingerly): Yes, it's from..... Barker slaps him again, harder.

Barker: What time does it get to Sevenoaks?

Corbett: Now look here you, you can go stuff yourself! Go and find out for yourself - I'm not helping you! Get lost!"

Barker: Congratulations, you've now passed your customer service training assessment (and reveals his case has "BR Training Dept" on its side).

Just brilliant. Wish I could find the vid.

Think I've just got to the stage of thinking it's not my world anymore, I don't like a lot of what I see, not just from a work environment point of view but more of what I see as further steps towards a totalitarian state - I was reading only this morning via rag about the zoning they want to bring in Canterbury City Centre, which appears very similar to the idea that they want to put in place in Oxford, where your car is prevented from crossing the City, baring in mind the former council was responsible for removing park and ride schemes. Covid and Cimate change are being used as tools against the general public to create behaviour changes, and I don't particularly like the way they are going about it, it's all getting a bit too big brother for me.

Sorry mate, I just have to post this. Please don't ban me.

Self checkouts at all Supermarkets
Cashless ticket sales at football grounds, purchases online
Self service pumps and payments at fuel stations
Self check in at airports
Self check ins at Premier Inn
Cashless payments / order from tables at restaurants
Self order at McDonalds
Amazon trialling stores with no employees
The list is endless

The world has changed, surely the railways need to do the same and move out of the prehistoric era?

I would say with all of them theres still staff to talk to who will help out or resolve things.

Stations are already at minimum staff plus theres the thing of safety on tracks etc.

Government pushing that they don’t have the money for nurses pay increases. That’s right, you don’t have the money, it’s our money.
So pay them, and get back the billions given to bankers and private firms/fraudulent supplied PPE, then leave government and never return you Tory crooks.
