98 years ago at Wembley.

More mindless thuggery and yobbishness.

I wouldn't be too bothered if the FA boycotted Qatar. In fact, I'd support it. It's a farce that an autocratic monarchy with zero footballing history or culture, that relies on slave labour to build the infrastructure for the World Cup and has a shocking human rights record was given world football's biggest tournament in the first place.

Good post.

Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the fans, who were a disgrace. Hundreds of wine bottles, vodka bottles and full cans were being thrown randomly down Wembley Way and outside the White Horse, families with little kids were under fire. At all the games there's been a load of lads outside the White Horse with flares and throwing balls and beer around, but they were only throwing them at each other and you could walk round them, but last night there was no way into the ground without going through them and there were hundreds of police just stood there doing nothing. They did little to help the stewards when they were overrun with people trying to get in without tickets either. The whole thing was chaotic, I expect we'll see some sort of alcohol restrictions brought in for future games and I suspect our 2030 World Cup bid is now dead in the water.

Well you can annex territories of other countries, rig elections, suppress political opposition by poisoning ...and still get the nod.

You can have zero football history or followers, outlaw homosexuality, alcohol, employ slave labour....and you still fit the bill.

What's one drunken yobfest (no fatalities and magnified as usual by the media) compared to all that?

I know a man, a big cricket fan and self proclaimed racist who was watching Yorkshire on the telly about five years ago.

Yorkshire had a player (you'll have to excuse me here, as I know nothing about cricket) but we had a batsman making lots of runs.

Racist cricket fan watching the telly shouted out "Go on my son"!

The lad making these runs for Yorkshire was a turban wearing Indian.

I didn't need to say a word. I just looked him the eye and he couldn't possibly have looked more embarrassed.
