A response to people taking a pop at Grealish for not taking a penalty...

Jack Grealish @JackGrealish
I said I wanted to take one!!!! The gaffer has made so many right decisions through this tournament and he did tonight! But I won’t have people say that I didn’t want to take a peno when I said I will.

Mourinho this morning said about the 'lottery' that is a penalty shootout. He said that you cannot criticise the players that miss, it is a high pressure situation.
He referenced a match between Real Madrid v Bayern Munich that they lost on penalties....the 3 players that missed for Real Madrid??

Cristiano Ronaldo
Sergio Ramos
Kaka

It can happen to any player

Don't know if this has already been said, but Rashford's penalty was in many ways superb - he was the only one who managed to get Donnarumma to move early and he missed by about an inch. Incredibly unlucky.

I reckon if he'd been on the pitch for more than 30 seconds he might have had a better feel for the ball...

Not if you are an England player it shouldn't. According to a lot of know nowts anyway.

Jorginho shouldn't have been on the pitch after his foul. Obviously this calls for the penalty shoot out to be replayed.

Cheers Chazz, despite my detailed knowledge the back streets of Wembley, there was nothing I could do to avoid the traffic last night, every road was blocked and it took an hour to get on to the North Circular (rest of the journey wasn't bad and got home at 3.45am).

It was fantastic to see us playing in the final of a major tournament last night, despite us ultimately falling short, the lads did us proud.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the fans, who were a disgrace. Hundreds of wine bottles, vodka bottles and full cans were being thrown randomly down Wembley Way and outside the White Horse, families with little kids were under fire. At all the games there's been a load of lads outside the White Horse with flares and throwing balls and beer around, but they were only throwing them at each other and you could walk round them, but last night there was no way into the ground without going through them and there were hundreds of police just stood there doing nothing. They did little to help the stewards when they were overrun with people trying to get in without tickets either. The whole thing was chaotic, I expect we'll see some sort of alcohol restrictions brought in for future games and I suspect our 2030 World Cup bid is now dead in the water.

I appreciate this was a UEFA decision, but this game should have been played at 3pm... having said that, those on the lash would have just started at 6am instead of 10am...

A sickening loss on the field of play but Italy were the better side,we never showed our best on the night!

Trying to digest that is hard for us all but harder still is trying to understand the mindset of a significant amount of morons who have sullied English Football by directing racist abuse at our players,a significant amount of morons who decided that you don't need to pay to get into Wembley and a significant amount of knuckle draggers who fought and caused mayhem on our streets....Shame on them All!!

.
Very disappointing.
Every time we take lwad we sit back then

Was there much violence coz watching the news it's just reporting the social media abuse?

Having watched and then dissected every bit til two in the morning I am still left with the impression all we are missing is a real dirty hard man in the middle. The Italians passed their way through us time and time again in a critical part of the match. The bookings they accrued showed their application of the dark arts. Our boys need to learn from this and I am sure they will.
